2015 F250 6.7L Tire Sizes

Post by 2825Matheny » Fri Jan 11, 2019 7:40 pm

2015 Ford F250 6.7L Powerstroke

Situation: Changing OEM tires to larger tires and correcting the odometer error caused by this change.

OBDII module: Amazon # B07JFRFJG6 $99.95 - OBDLink MX+ Professional OBD2 Scanner for iPhone, iPad, Android & Windows

Software: ForScan with extended license

Using the Easy Method I can access a drop-down menu of tire sizes OK.
The OEM Tires were 275/65R-18 and the BCM code is this size is 726-45-01 014B 09AB 1184
The 09AB is the HEX value of the circumference of the tire: 2475 mm (https://www.binaryhexconverter.com/deci ... -converter)
Now sure where 1184 in this data string comes from. I thought it might be a checksum, but I was not able to confirm that theory.

When I use the Easy Method to change tire sizes I get a drop-down menu. Still no issues.
I can change to a 275/65R-20 tire that has a BCM code of 014B 0A46 1120
This HEX of 0A46 tells me the circumference is 2630 mm.
And the last numbers of the data string changed to 1120 (again, I don't know what they represent)

When I use the ForScan Advance method I can see the above changes in location 726-45-01. Still all good.
Now comes my dilemma.
I desire to change the tire size to one that has a circumference of 2644.67, the HEX value of this is 0A54.
When using the Advanced method I enter 0A54 and the last 4 digits of the 726-45-01 do not automatically update and then when I save it, I get "error".
What do the last 4 digits of the 726-45-01 string represent and what are the correct numbers when I use HEX 0A54?

So, for now, I used the Easy method and used the drop-down menu to pick 275/65R-20 which is close to the same circumference as a 295/70R-18.
295/70R-18 is the size of the tire that is actually installed on my truck.

I think, in the end, the safest thing for me to do to avoid a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is to just use one of the tire sizes that Ford has in the drop-down menu and call it good.

Your thoughts?

Either that or maybe someone will help us both by chiming in; I have a 2015 F-350 dually Lariat FX4 that will probaby run the codes as you have. well, I put 35/12.50/17's on mine. If you figure something out, give a brother a heads up, yea?
