2018 F-150 "rear" Cargo LEDs...

Post by Mach-Lid » Mon Dec 17, 2018 2:24 pm

Hello,

I've recently used Forscan to correct for slightly larger tires on my 2018 f-150 with no trouble at all. And also enabled "bambi" mode.
Now that I've become somewhat familiar with Forscan and all of its incredible features and uses.

There is one more feature I'd like to find out if may possibly be enabled...

My 2018 F-150 has the very handy LED cargo lights. The ones I'm referring to are the strip of LEDs that are in the rear portion of the bed on both sides. They are turned on with the external button in the left rear section of the bed, or they can be turned on from the Cargo light switch near the headlight switch from inside the cockpit.

I'm curious if the rear cargo LEDs can be programmed to come on anytime there is drivers or passengers door activity? Basically have the "rear" cargo LEDs come on and follow what all the other dome lights and courtesy lights do after opining a door.

I think if would be very handy if those rear bed LEDs could illuminate and stay on just like other courtesy lights do after opening the doors, and exiting the truck and then immediately accessing the cargo area, and not having the cargo area be totally dark.
This would be quite handy when a bed cover has been installed (like mine), as the cargo area is no longer illuminated by the lights at the back of the cab area due to the cover.

Thank you

Hello Mach-Lid.
Interesting post. I to would like to have the bed cargo lights come on as the courtesy lights do.
I'm surprised you have not received a reply.
I'm subscribed to your thread and maybe someone has an answer.

I would like to see if they can automatically come on when the tailgate is opened. At least for a few seconds so i can find the button when it is dark outside.

Guys,

I've got a 2018, didn't come with the cargo lights. I bought the "kit" from a local dealer and just installed them. My cargo lights come on when I open the doors of the truck, but I can't get them to come on with the button in the cab or the button in the rear, although I can control the high mount cargo light with both.

I'm going to first just see if the truck learns it has these new lights after I start it and cut it off. If that doesn't work, I'll try to re-initialize the BCM. I just wanted to let you know, that the courtesy light binding seems to already be there on mine. That being said, I know that I absolutely have the latest revision of PCM firmware on my truck. Sadly, it just got a new engine put in after only 13,500 miles. Warranty though. Anyway, they flashed the PCM when they put the new engine in. So maybe there is something out there.

I have yet to hook up forscan after the engine swap though, so I haven't seen any changes yet. If you guys want, I can look into it and we can compare notes?

I'm not sure I can contribute much to figure this out,, I'm just gonna keep on this and see if someone possibly comes up with something we can do in Forscan that may enable or sync the bed lights operation with other courtesy lighting.

Thank you

Any luck with controlling your bed lights.I also added a kit but it was to a 2017 F-250. Lights work but I need to find a way thru forscan to enable the switch in the bed.

What is the part number for the kit you purchased to add the cargo lights?

Hi guys Im new to this but I wanted to know if anyone knows how to enable this kit in the forscan I have a 2018 f150 stx v8 5.0 that didnt come with led cargo lights any help is appreciated. And I have read that with the base package you have to add 2 more wires to get inside and outside switch to work

Titan_1140...any luck with your inquiry yet? I am new here also. I have the exact same stuation...I installed the OEM cargo light kit JL3Z-13E754-A for my 2018 F150 XLT with the 301A package. Bed lights operate when opening doors but not with either the bed switch or the dashboard cargo light switch. Bed switch however, does operate the high-mount cargo light... would appreciate If anyone can suggest the forscan setting changes to make these switches work the bed lights.
