2018 Transit Custom, Enable Climate Control

Post by STEVEPSEFORD » Wed Aug 08, 2018 1:13 pm

I’ve just took delivery of a new 2018 Transit Custom Limited van, I’ve been looking at getting the Climate control enabled on the Sync3 Screen. After reading various posts and tutorials I’ve gone for it and managed to get it working on screen and with functioning heated seat controls. There is however a slight problem in that the touch screen display does not show the current temperature and the boxes are blank and the UP/DOWN Heat & Cool setting doesn’t seem to operate properly. I can use the voice activation to operate the air on and this works.. would be great full for any pointers.. can’t seem to upload an image of my screen

Great that you have got these working.
The limited use of the climate control could be down to the fact that the custom van doesn't have climate control as such. Although it is all push button it is still only a heater control. I saw a you tube video where someone used forscan to enable it on a car /pick up (USA) and that vehicle didn't have climate control so they only got limited use of the stnc3 screen interface.
I am waiting for an adaptor I ordered to be delivered because I wanted to add this and the heated seat control to my sync3.
Are you happy to share the codes that you changed with me?
Would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike..

I have heavily played about with my APIM, Its miles from factory release,
What codes are you looking for ?, What exactly are you wanting to change on yours,

So far, I've done the following;

Enabled & Added Rear View Camera onto Sync3 Screen
Enabled Combined Rear View Camera & Obstacle Avoidance
Enabled Climate Control
Enabled Heated Seat Icons
Enabled Sync3 Colour Menu System Selection
Enabled Voice Activation for Heating Controls
Enabled TMPS, "Waiting delivery of sensors"
Enabled Folding Mirrors when remote is pressed " Still working on this"
Disabled Seatbelt Chime on drivers seat

I've got plenty of the Sync3 APIM cables in stock for adding rear view cameras

Sounds like you have been busy...
I am interested in

enabling climate control
Heated seats
Sync 3 colour menu.
Mirrors to fold in/out on locking/unlocking vehicle.
Global closing and opening of electric windows from key remote
Also would be interested on whether it is possible to turn on the speed sign Recognition?
Also I bought a cable of eBay and could not get it to work with my windows 10?
Couldn't seem to find any USB drivers that would work with it?
Are you using Windows 10?
What cable have you been using?
Any help would be great...
Thanks
Mike.

Hello. I bought 2018 custom sport, and forgot to tick reverse camera option. Ford says that it isnt possible to retrofit, but you have added it succesfully. Is there wiring and just adding oem camera with programming should make it. I wouldnt want to dismantle dashboard from new car. 8" screen with many options, but not that camera ):

You sayed something about "apim cable for rear view cameras" ?? Is this cable for forscan connection to obd or something back of screen.

Hi all.
Very nervously I am considering trying some changes.
I have a 2018 (3 weeks old !) Transit Custom Tourneo. It comes with some stuff as standard but does not have a reverse camera. I have found a unit that fits into the rear number plate lamp and an adaptor cable for the head unit (although this is probably a simple pigtail solder job if anyone knows the wiring), now I need to be sure that I can do the change on Forscan.
The removal of the the new style protruding screen to get at the cable is not shown anywhere on video I can find.
I would appreciate your words of support on this and any advise I will need.
I am computer literate, and build kitcars so I am 'useful' with auto things.
Its just the daunting thing of playing with hex codes in a new vehicle.............
Cheers. DJ

You do not have to touch the screen, no need to dismantle any part of it. Your APIM is behind the glove box. That’s where the camera connects to

Before changing anything, read the APIM and save it, then do a backup of the save and rename it to something else. That way if all goes wrong you have a master backup
