Obdlink LX chip and MS-CAN

Post by coas21 » Fri May 25, 2018 7:07 pm

I saw at the "ELM327-compatible adapters - how to choose" thread that obdlink LX have STN 1100 chip and it can't read MS-CAN. I have both LX and MX, both are recognized by FORScan lite as having STN 1150 with a slight difference in the firmware.
More over, the Lx can read MS-CAN, with only 1 error compared to the MX.

Is it a reading issue? something with FORScan lite or the LX is actually STN 1150?

This for the LX:

Did some digging, from the attached file, downloaded from OBD solutions:

OBDlink LX and MX both are equipped with STN115_ chip.

OBDLink SX is using STN1130 chip and not as stated at the above mentioned post.

If that's the case, the LX limitations are at the firmware or somewhere else in the hardware, not with the STN11__ chip.
