2018 Ford F150 Daytime Lights DRL as Fog Only

Post by ahoopi » Thu May 17, 2018 3:41 am

I changed the following which is supposed to enable the Fog Lights as DRL, but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone else get this setup to work on a 2018?

DRL - Front Fog Lights only
BCM 726-45-01 xxxx 7Fxx xxxx
726-50-01 04xx

Codes originally were:

;Block 45
72645010A0003010081
7264502010101000178

;Block 50
72650010280

I changed them in FORScan and wrote the values but now I have no DRL at all. Originally the headlights would come on, but now none of the lights are on. I power cycled the ignition and double checked the setting on the gauges to make sure DRL's were enabled (they are). The regular lights all work fine, but now when in Drive there are no DRL's at all.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

Posting the fix here just in case someone else makes the same error I did. :oops:

The programming instructions were correct, and I followed them correctly. But I did not realize that Ford only turns on the DRL's when the light switch is in the Automatic setting. My prior vehicle if the light switch was in Off the DRL's lights would still come on. In the case of the F150 (and other Ford apparently) the light switch has to be in Auto for the DRL's to come on. Validated today during the daylight hours that the DRL Fog enable is working as designed.

Howdy;

Just FYI - the Owner's Manual - under the Lighting section - clearly explains the Autolamp AND the DRL functions.

Reading it may have spared you some stress :mrgreen:
