2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid ABS calibration

***Issue resolved! If you're having the same problem you can retrieve as-built data here and flash the module****

I'm afraid I've goofed pretty hard...

My ABS module failed in my 2011 Fusion Hybrid. This means no brake simulator, and brakes in emergency mode. It wasn't safe to drive.

So, I replaced the module with a used one, it was pulled from a 2010 Fusion Hybrid. My brakes work safely, it's 'safer' to drive. BUT the PCM is throwing a VIN mismatch error. So I don't have ABS, AdvTrac, or Regen braking.

I've tried to use Forscan to 'initialize/re-calibrate' the module, but it fails with a "Service Procedure Interrupted Error ."

I'm aware that I should have kept the old module and pulled the data from it ... but the waste bin at the hobby shop has already been emptied. It's long gone.

I've ordered a new ELM327 with MC & HS can capabilities just in case... But I have a feeling that the ABS module needs to be registered to the same VIN as my vehicle before it can be calibrated.

Is anyone open to guiding me ? If my analysis is on the correct track, I'm looking to push my vehicles VIN to the module. I'm going to try calibrating ABS again when my new ELM327 arrives.

was this the HCU unit?
if so can you provide some info on what steps to take in forscan?

I need to replace the hcu in my 08 escape.

On my 2011 vehicle the ABS controller and HCU pump are combined. I found a replacement on ebay and installed it myself, bled the brakes manually, and so on.

Replacing the HCU/ABS module restored normal braking behavior. But until I reprogrammed the module, I didn't have regenerative braking. I'll be happy to repeat the process and walk you through it if you can troubleshoot and replace the part yourself.

Long story short, replace the module and go to the link I provided. You need your 'as-built' hex programming to apply your VIN to the new HBU. You may not have traction control and abs until you do so.

Thanks. So is it possible to read my current hcu & feed it to the new(used) one with just forscan & an elm327 or will I need better (ford) computer to do it?

You should be able to use an elm327.

My Bluetooth elm327 was to slow to program/read some of the buses. I bought a USB elm327 and everything worked wine with forscan. You need both Ms and hs can support on your elm.
