2008 F250 XLT and FORScan Help...

Post by rixter99 » Wed Jan 31, 2018 3:33 am

I have FORScan and have programmed my F250 for DRL, RKE (TexasRebel thread in FTE), Beltminder disable (both IC and RCM modules), with all but RKE being done in 'plain text' module, not the 'As Built' module...

I have attempted to use the 2014 F150, 2011-2016 SD (?), and 2017 SD spreadsheets to 'tailor' the DRLs for Blinker/Turn Signals, however, those spreadsheets show 'more' memory locations than on the 2008-2010's AND in the memory locations specifically, some have more memory blocks within the location that is available with my 2008...

In 'other' spreadsheets, they reference BCM location 726-01-01 and *x** **** ** being modified to show *3** for DRL to use 'Turns'

726-11-01

*0** **** ** DRL Disabled
*1** **** ** DRL Enabled 50% Low Beam
*2** **** ** DRL Enabled Fog Lights
*3** **** ** DRL Enabled Turn Signal

In my F250 XLT SD, I have the following:

726-11-01

1400 53 - Notice the lack of memory blocks -

I have tried to replace the '4' with a '3' - nogo, so I set '4' back in...I replaced the '4' with a '7' (thinking 'add' to value) - nogo, so I set '4' back in...My DRL's work, just on 50% low beams...

I have searched Google, numerous FTE Forums (member), PowerDiesel forums (non-member), FORScan forums (member) for advice or a spreadsheet...I have also used the 'AsBuilt Compare' tool (http://www.compulsivecode.com) to try and figure it out...I'm exhausted/frustrated at this point, and reaching out for help...

Has anyone tried programming DRL's for 'Turns' on a 08, 09, 10 F250/350/450 and had it work?

Has anyone created/seen a FORScan spreadsheet for the 2008-2010 MY SuperDuty? I have started to create one, but need to verify more things before I post it...

If it cannot be done, it cannot be done...I'm not ready to give up yet, but I hear the train coming thru the tunnel...

Again, I have attempted to use the 'newer MY' spreadsheets...Any help is appreciated...

Cheers, Rick

A lot of it is NOT working at this point.

I did make the 'bit' changes for Remote Keyless Entry (if you don't have RKE enabled already) and new Remote FOBs programmed successfully after that. The changes were made in the SJB/GEM (As Built) section - 726-04-01 0032 to 726-04-01 0638. I found it also changes the memory locations for Security Group, Door Entry (possibly PATs?), 726-07-01 to 2503 5D. I changed it back to 2502 5C (original configuration) since I don't have the Security Group, Door Keypad or 'chip-key' (PATs?), and it did NOT kill RKE as Remote FOBs still operable.
I bought a set of Remote Fobs off of Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS ... UTF8&psc=1

The DRL is in the SJB/GEM cluster as an option to enable/disable. The issue I'm having is trying to set it to 'Turn Signals'. I added after-market fogs and tied them directly to the parking lights so the stay on whether low/high beams are on a few years back and do not want to change to OEM Harness/Auto Head light switch at this point. Also, there is talk of the 'Bambi mode' where the fog lights stay on when high beams are on. Will not change over until I can confirm DRL to Turn signals on my 2008. To add Fogs w/Harness and Auto Headlamp switch (Ambient light sensor not required, but head lights will not automatically come on) will require the following change in the SJB/GEM (As Built) section 726-09-01 *200 xx to 6200 xx.

There are 2 places for the 'Beltminder' Status option to enable/disable, one in the IC and one in the SJB/GEM or RCM (Restraint Control Module), I can't remember now. It disables the Driver Seat Belt chime, but the light still comes on in the Instrument Cluster.

I don't have TPMS, but I have the 'bit' settings that disable that, in the IC 'As Built' at 726-02-01, use 0000 0000 0030. If you have TPMS, it will look like 0060 xxXX ****, where xx = Front tires pressure and XX = Rear tires pressure converted from PSI to Hexadecimal. Don't know that you have to 'zero' the xx and XX versus just changing the '6' to a '0'.

I tried to disable the 'Key in Ignition' chime from another spreadsheet and it error'd out with 'Incompatible Configuration'.

Will post updates via this thread.

I have an 08 F250 SD XL model. I added factory switch, fog lights and factory harness, My automatic lights work but I cannot get the Fog light to turn on. I looked at your spread sheet and for the life of me can't figure out why it won't work. When I attempt to use ForScan it said not available mod. Any help or suggestions. I even looked at multiple of the others spreadsheets and nothing.

Responded to other post before this one...I 'direct wired' my after market fog lights to my parking lights due to my 'limited options' XLT...I did not test the GEM/SJB 726-03-01 section as far as fog lights go, but that info was confirmed off another VIN with Fogs and without DRL...It's been a while since I've even worked w/Forscan and can't remember if I saw the option box for Fogs in the 'text' (plain English) mode...Did you try 'xFxx' in 726-03-01?

'xDxx' (Fogs only) or 'xFxx' (Fogs + DRL) should work...Both 'trigger' bit 7 for Fogs...'xFxx' triggers both bit 6 (DRL) and bit 7 (Fogs)...In the format 'xxxx', each 'x' uses 4 bits of a 16 bit string to represent a hexadecimal character, 0-9 and A-F...First 'x' represents bits 0-3 (4 bits total), 2nd 'x' represents bits 4-7 (4 bits total), 3rd 'x' represents bits 8-11 (4 bits total), and the 4th 'x' represents bits 12-15 (4 bits total) - all using '0' (zero) to turn Off or '1' (one) to turn On a 'feature'...The hex value for 'C' is 1100, 'D' is hex is 1101, 'E' is 1110, and 'F' is 1111...In those examples, and using bits 4-7 for the 2nd 'x', 'C' has bits 6 and 7 Off indicating no DRL and no Fogs; 'D' has bit 6 Off and bit 7 On indicating no DRL and Fogs; 'E' has bit 6 On and bit 7 Off indicating DRL and no Fogs; 'F' has bit 6 and 7 On indicating DRL and Fogs...Confused?

Well I tried the D and The F and nothing. I check the fuse and it's good. Talking to Ford I may have to buy a smart junction box that has the fog lights option. Being mine is an xl model not an xlt.

The local Ford Dealership told me the same thing to get DRL and Remote Keyless Entry to work, which was not the case because I was able to use Forscan to enable both features...But then again, maybe the SJB for XL and XLT are indeed different...If you choose to go that route, check with your Dealership to ensure the newer SJB can be programmed for the XLT and get it in 'writing' before you drop the $$$ for it...Like I said, I wired mine to the parking lights...Curious - when you put in 'xFxx', did DRL work?..To test, start truck and put it in 'Drive' - you should see 'dim' (50%) headlights...May have to do it during daytime so your auto-on headlights don't kick on...
