On 2013 and newer Ford Fusion models, the parking brake uses rear calipers with electric motors to actuate the electronic parking brake (EPB). Putting the system into service or maintenance mode to retract the pistons is performed using a series of steps while sitting in the driver’s seat.

Unfortunately this sequence does not work on my Mondeo MK5 2015. (sync 2 version)
I've tried numerous times but nothing happens.

I therefore assume I need to do this....

It can be done using Forscan

In the 'service procedures' tab there is a function called 'Enter electric parking brake maintenance mode'

A message then pops up,.....
'This procedure puts the module into the service position for changing brake pads or calipers. The calipers will be retracted and locked in place so the brake pads can be replaced. No other command can be used other than Exit Maintenance Mode at this point.'

There seems to be an issue with my car though. When i start the above task it aborts with a message saying,
'ensure the parking brake is applied' which it is, so not sure what is going on.

Hopefully there will be a Forscan developer online here soon, to help me out with this.
PS. Absolutely no faults or problems found during DTS scan.
cheers

That doe,s not seem right! How can they retract with parking brake "on" When i do VW parking brake it insists on battery backup or charger connected. Do not open any doors etc until finished.

I do have the same issue on my 2015 Titanium 2.0 TDCI with manual shift as discribed by flo3flo.
Car doesn't react on the manual switch sequence in the video"s and fails the Forscan Maintenance mode
Can anyone help me out ??

Got my Mk5 in brake maintenance mode by try and error...
Found out that the parkingbrake has to be off before starting the task, the forescan 2.3.16 program mentions; be sure to have the parking brake set.
Please check if this fault can be corrected in the program. ;)

I have the latest version of Forscan which is installed on my laptop and there is no brake maintenance mode option when connected to my 2015 Mondeo 2.0 tdci.
