My 2005 Escape was having the random alarms, day or night, no apparent reason. I found Forscan and was lucky enough to be able to add a switch to my existing elm327 adapter. Forscan showed the last 8 alarms were caused by the right rear door. I did not want to buy a new Ford switch assembly for $300 or a Dorman aftermarket part for $120. I removed the door panel and added a jumper wire between the pink/blue wire and the black/white wire. Took about 20 minutes to do this. The door always registers as closed and I have not had an alarm in 2 years. Opening the right rear door will not make the overhead light turn on but this was not an issue to me for an older vehicle.

I just got my new OBD adapter I hope to see the GEM mod tomorrow, That for sharing about the wire work around. It looks like the right rear lock has already been replaced in my 2006 escape.
