Ford Focus MK3 Econetic 2013 bricked?

Post by emnrisv » Fri Oct 04, 2019 6:40 am

Hi All,

I am the owner of a ford focus mk3 2013 1.6 Econetic diesel and have a big problem. I changed wheels to 18" and wanted to adjust the wheel size in the central configuration. During writing to BCM the battery level went low with the current problem as result.

The car is completely dead. No lights, no dash, no nothing, no start of key recognition. I know I should have used a battery support during programming but I though such a small change wouldn't take so much time, but I forgot I had updated the SYNC 3 and likely drained the battery already. So pretty stupid I know.

I made backup of central configuration and was able to resture that using forscan. But there are still errors likely causing the car to be dead still.

I have tried Ford IDS as well for accessing or reprogramming BCM but without success. IDS doesn't recognize PCM VIN as well.

What is the best way to go to try to restore the car without jumping to the Ford Dealer immediately.

Thanks a lot in advance for your support

Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes.

Then DONOT allow forscan to use a previous stored session
Let it search for what modules respond

OK thanks. I did do that but unfortunately without result. I was able to recover the central configuration but they can remain dead. The PCM seems also unreachable, also within IDS.

I decided to tow the car away to FORD, and cross our fingers they will be able to help out.

This is the problem before attempting key
Programming or flashing battery support
Unit must be on car at all times this could turn on as a expensive repair.

with ids , start it up , DONT connect to car , (you will need the tear tag number from the sticker on the pcm if not known ) run the pcm detection until it fails and asks you to insert the numbers from the pcm and tear tag (takes 2 or 3 goes to get it to bring up the input stage ),then connect to car then continue to reprogramm the pcm.
this should bring the pcm back to life .
i am the same as you just a forscan user still learning .
The search function is there for a reason use it.
no you can no longer pm me with your 1 or 0 posts so dont try.
