How to clear MyKey without admin key and programming

Post by FORScan »

It is typical situation when people have MyKey enabled and have no Admin key that would allow to clear MyKey feature. Previously, our support answered that there are 2 ways to do it with FORScan:

1. Reprogram PATS - erase all known keys and program 2 new ones. This removes MyKey completely, but it is quite "heavy" way: it requires 2 working different good quality keys and PATS programming functions (in FORScan it is available not for all models).

2. Disable MyKey options in IPC and other modules if available. This removes chimes and warnings, but not MyKey itself. Some limits, like speed limit, may remain active after this procedure.

But one of our users found a workaround about how to clear MyKeys with FORScan but without any programming. It can be done in FORScan for Windows or FORScan Lite for iOS, Android. Here is the exact sequence:

1. Start the car and connect to it with FORScan.
2 Start PCM KOER test (Tests->PCM Key On Engine Running On Demand Self Test)
3. Wait until the test is completed
4. Remove keyfob from the car in case of keyless system (with engine start button). In case of standard blade key, you have to block the transponder (for example, wrap the keyfob with a foil).
5. Stop the engine (turn the ignition off)
6. Turn the igfnition On but don't run the engine.
7. Go to MyKey menu in your instrument cluster and execute Clear MyKeys option .

You now have MyKey removed.

Note: this was tested on cars with gasoline engine, not tested on diesel engines.

Please leave your feedback on this method.

2017 ford focus - just says immobilser active check blah blah ,then my key active ,

so no dont work on 2017's.
tested with just turning engine off key in ignition acc position then on , engine off with key in ignition all off , key out of ignition
on number 5 in the list.
I think someones winding you up or they used the master key by mistake and not the my-key - get in touch with them and get them to send you a video of it.....
if they use remote start then that is why it worked as it run in admin mode with remote start so can only be done with remote start on a my-key.
i am the same as you just a forscan user still learning .
The search function is there for a reason use it.

Did you follow the instruction precisely? Was KOER test successfully ran and completed?

This was successfully tested on Mustang 2.3 2016 with keyless entry and start.

yes followed the instructions ,
the reason it worked for them is the car was remote start , everyone knows that with remote start you can do this already , with no need to do anything but to use the remote start to start the car and erase the my-keys , you dont need to do anything else (no running of any diagnostics required )

I just tried it on my 2016 Edge Sport and it works. Followed the steps completely. To get the keyfob outside I just opened the window and put my hand with the keyfob outside the window.

I also can't get mine to work, I have a 2013 Ford Fusion, I have the OBDII reader and Forscan, I DONT have a keyless start, I have a blade key and I have tried just about everything. I don't have the PATs option on forscan, I only have 1 key and the other key which the dealership said they didn't have when we got the car is set to an admin key. I am just sick of it and don't want to spend $300 on a new key that they say has to be totally reprogrammed.

I even tried taking my key apart starting the car without the fob part, with just the blade and trying it the keyless way by walking away from the car, and no go, I tried tin foil as well. The car just tells me no key detected and defaults to MyKey state

I was thinking the same thing but I can’t see it any where, it’s not under any of the service tools and I even updated the drivers for the reader.
