Mazda DPF

Post by SteveWalsh » Wed Aug 21, 2019 7:15 am

A question for all you very knowledgeable people

I have a MAZDA 6 GH. 2.2 MZR-CD. 2009
I have the well talked about issue of the oil level rising, I have a new cam chain kit fitted, A new DPFunit. Injectors have been removed 3 times and the copper washers replaced, but no signs of leakage, Sump removed at every oil change to check pick up screen for debris but always spotlesss.
The oil level goes up from just above minimum to full, (not the x mark) In 3500 miles
Car runs well and cant see anything on Forscan that looks out of the ordinary, apart from, In the column. DPF FAILURE REGENERATION CONDITION the value column says ERROR. Not sure what it means or if it's relevant.

Any advice very welcome

It probably means that dpf did not do a regen. That would explain the fuel in oil. The extra fuel is added on the exhaust stroke to bring the dpf up to temp. The best way to do a regen is on the road. Is the vehicle only used for short runs. How i do it is, start with get the engine up to temp and look at soot load, then head off to the motorway. Drive at a steady 60mph for about half hour in 4th gear without stopping. Then back at home look at soot load again. If it is lower, all good. If not, get it looked at.

I do a few short slow runs, but a couple of times a week I do a 125 mile trip, and 45 miles is at 80 mph, The regen count is increasing and seems to be averaging one about every 115 miles.

Hey,

I am new to this and my scanner will be arriving today to be able to connect up to the car.

Just before I bought the car (63k) diesel 2.2 mazda 3 sport the DPF light was lit solid. The previous owner was told by the garage to take the car on a steady drive for an hour or so, the light then went off after this drive.

When you look at the figures for DPF and exhaust what figures are we looking at and what values are acceptable or cause for concern?

Thank you.
