Mustang S197 2005-2009 programmable Codes

Post by LaForge » Wed Feb 15, 2017 4:47 pm

Hi Folks,

after playing a while with my modified ELM Adapter and the actual ForScan Beta release I have found the following Codes for Mustangs 2005-2009:

Its explained best with the BIN codes from the First 4 digit value

my original AsBuild Code was:

720-01-01 2083 0000 00CC and the first 4 HEX digits (2083) are BIN-values as follows: 00100000 10000011

you can see this 0 and 1 as little switches. so we take the secont BIN row:

First value: DRL LED OFF, if you need the DRL LED in your instrument Cluster you have to change the first 2 bits from 10 to 01. The second bit must be 1 then the green IC DRL Led flashes if you have DRL activated
Second calue: as above, must be 1 to use the DRL LED
third Value: The OpenDoor Symbol activation (if equipped in your cluster) if this is set to 1 (on V6 Base 4-Gauge models its set to 1) then the small red car with door open lits up if any door/trunk is open. (nice to have feature)
fourth value: Speed Limit Warning, a acoustig Warning if you drive above 85MPH (wo the FXck needs this????)
fifth value: Backup reminder, a chime sounds if you have entered the reverse gear (bing ... bing ... bing ...)
sixth value: TPMS on/off if set to 1 TPMS is activated, if set to 0 TPMS is not activated. (If you have no sensors)

The we take the 726-01-01 GEM

00000000 is the first BIN value row.

first value: DRL ON/OFF, if set to 1 DRL is activated (you need the IC Value above to activate LED in Cluster also (if equipped)

Hint: 2006 Cluster do not have all LEDs equipped. In my Cluster the DRL LED and the OPENDOOR LED were not fitted onto the Mainboard. So i bought an old V6 Cluster and ripped two LEDs off and plugged them onto my GT Mainboard, now all
places are filled and functional.
You can check if you have LED equipped with the IC Module self Test with ForScan.

This List will be modified if I know new features.

Thanks for sharing, the speed warning system is mandated by law for vehicles sold in the Gulf State regions, I could be wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the car rental places use it too.

Actually I have it enabled on my 2004 F150 to help me with my lead foot problem... :-)

Thank you for your good work. I have a set of rims with no tpms and the error messages just bothered me so much, I turned it off and its gone!

Please let us know if you find any other codes that could be programmed!!

Thank you again!

Karsten/Laforge, that's some great work! Have you by chance figured out which line of coding will disable hyperflash or the "bulb outage warning" on the mustang? I am pretty familiar with the as built mods on my truck, but this BCM-B stuff on the mustang is throwing me off, completely different coding. I though maybe it would be close...

@jetexpress

Sorry, I have been away a long time.
Can you explain what you actually mean with hyper flash or bulb outage warning?
Does the 05-09 have such a feature?

Best regards

I apologize for just now responding Karsten, I haven't been getting email notifications for forum updates! I will make sure I do from now on.

The bulb outage warning is just that, when a turn signal burns out on a vehicle, the electrical system can detect an increase or decrease in "normal" resistance through the incandescent bulb. The BCM then signals to flash the turn signal about twice as fast as normal (dubbed hyper-flashing). Now, say you install an LED bulb (which draws MUCH less current/resistance) the car thinks the bulb has burned out and begins to hyper-flash.

All cars have this feature, and most of the later models now have a way to disable that. My F250 for example is a user selected option right in the Personality section of the programming. The mustang however isn't a simple plain english option, but I'd be willing to bet that it can be altered via the BCM as-built code.

This will be very funny.

So you can use LEDs instead of Bulbs.
My 2006 is regrettably locked so I can access only the first line of my Modules. (i.E. 726-01-01)
2007 and later has full access to all 20 Lines of the GEM.
Mustang Turn lights are controlled by the SJB (GEM)
There you may find this feature.

Keep us informed!

Thank you!

I was finally able to switch off that stupid TPMS thing... :x

720-01-01:
original: 2007 0000 0050
New: 2003 0000 004C

I only changed 07 -> 03 Forscan inserted the correct ending 50 --> 4C

Very cool!

Can't help with radio or navi, sorry.

I was unable to fix hyperflash with Forscan. I ended up installing resistors to get rid of hyperflash after installing LED bulbs.
