Racecar modifications.... Help please

Post by jamesaikens » Wed Feb 28, 2018 4:13 pm

2014 Mustang, being turned into a race car. Removed the factory seats to install carbon fiber seats. Airbag light of course is on, but I also notice a TON of codes for the seatbelts... as they are missing now.... and have been replaced with 5 point harnesses. Does anyone know what to modify in the asbiult to tell the car it doesn't have seat belts or airbags? Ford offers a control pack for stand alone race cars, that are Coyote driven and use the factory IPC... in those scenarios, there are no airbag lights or seat belt minders. Considering that information.... these fields live somewhere in Forscan, but WHERE?!

Also, changed 726-02-01 (GEM) to 0380 2020 00F9 from 03C0 2020 0033 allegedly to disable TPMS, but I still get a low pressure warning on the IPC :(

I'm taking a guess at this, based on facts that I've learned about this platform.

Get rid of the RCM module. The PCM won't care if a module is missing. But as long as the RCM is installed in the car, you will have the "christmas tree" dash. (bunch of lights on)

If you still have issues, have your tuner give you the Coyote Control Pack tune and work off that.

Oh yea, You may also need to modify IC (cluster) settings to turn off warning light(s) after removing the RCM.

I did a cluster swap on mine, and the cluster came from a car with ABS and Traction control. These lights were on because my car has neither, as I have NO ABS.

Im not aware of a controls pack that has a Ford instrument cluster.

If there is, post a part number here and I can likely get you the asbuilt for it, to shut the lights off in the cluster.

You can trial and error turn one bit to 0 at a time to see if it kills the ABS or SRS lights, I have figured out lots of weird shit on Ford modules doing it this way.

ALSO worth noting.

There's airbag/pretensioner "simulators" that are used as a diagnostic tool, which plugs in where an airbag or pretensioner was, that has the same resistance and simulates the load of an airbag, and turns the light out.

Would be cheaper and neater than cobbling the stuff under the dash somewhere.

DO NOT EVER MEASURE THE RESISTANCE OF A PRETENSIONER OR AN AIRBAG WITH A MULTIMETER IN AN ATTEMPT TO BUILD YOUR OWN SIMULATORS.

You need to modify the IPC as built also. I found everything on the first line of the IPC as built on mine, 720-01-01 I think it was in. Turned off ABS & traction control lights. I disabled TPMS in the GEM/SJB (I have multiple sets of wheels :D ), and the TPMS light still "proofs" on startup and stays off while driving. So when PA starts to enforce working TPMS for safety inspections, I should pass with flying colors.

Did you ever figure out away to turn off the RCM? Having issues with mine currently pulling timing from the motor because of the yaw rate sensor.

726-02-01. GEM Module
Originally: 03C0 2020 0033

xx8x xxxx xxxx disabled
xxCx xxxx xxxx enabled

Doing this disabled the TPMS light/message on a 2012 Mustang Premium V6, 3.7L w/ sync. After driving ~120 miles with speeds between 0-110 MPH, the TPMS light is still off after the above modification. Seems like it works.
