Re: Standard and Extended licenses for Windows
Hello- i have been struggling to obtain my extended license, and have downloaded the .key file, but I am unable to open the file- Windows does not recognize the .key extension. How do I get past this and install this license? I have obviously obtained the key file but cannot use it. Is this a Apple file type? My research tells me it is used in Apple systems. If so, Why would that be used here on a Windows platform?
I am really stuck on this small detail, as I need the extended license to access my truck.

Again ... the answer is always the same: read the 1st post of this same thread.

Re: Standard and Extended licenses for Windows
OK- I have tried for many, many attempts, following your example - I cannot get the *.key to load - I can get the FORScan file to show up when I click the "Load License Key " button, but it will not do anything after the second box pops up- the file name FORScan shows up, I click OK, then the directory shows 3 choices- as follows-
.. ( two dots)
data
images
Clicking on ANY of those just gives the error tone.
I wish I could screen shot this but I am kinda slow...........!
As I stated, the nice instructions which I follow do not get me there. I have generated the Extended License key twice now, with the same results.
Something is not right . Probably me........

From the About section of FORScan click on "load license key" and then select the license file.

Re: Standard and Extended licenses for Windows
I finally got it. The files were not arranged as in the example; that and other posts I read helped me through it.
It was confusing, though. I'm just sayin.
Thanks for the help everyone. I successfully programmed my trailer brake controller.

Re: Standard and Extended licenses for Windows
I have a 7.3L diesel and would like to disable #1 injector. I think a shorted solenoid on this injector is causing the IDM to shut off all the injectors on passenger side. Can this be done with Forscan? Do I need an extended license? If not where and how is this done.

Re: Standard and Extended licenses for Windows
I'm a bit confused after reading the first page. I just need FORScan to disable the fake noise, double-hunk, and add digital readouts to the gauges of my 2018 Platinum Screw 4x4. Do I need an extended license just for that? Don't think I need PATS, but maybe I'm wrong. I should get a cable next week, so have time to figure out if I need it or not. Thanks.
