Master Cylinder Bleed through ABS service procedure.

Post by Bagels10125 » Sat Jun 22, 2019 3:43 pm

Hi all, I have performed an ABS service bleed though Forscan on my 2013 Focus ST. I followed the on screen instructions while keeping consistent pressure from my Motive Pressure Bleeder. After cycling the ABS service twice I still had a spongy pedal feel.

Does anyone know if I select "Master cylinder" on the menu screen of items replaced vs just " brake fluid" if the program will run different?

The program specifically states not to depress the pedal but to properly bleed a Master it should be depressed to open the valve.

Ideally I would like to not pull the master and bench bleed if possible through Forscan in vehicle.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Why not clamp all the flexi brake pipes. Try pedal. If good, master is not your problem. Release one clamp at a time and try pedal. You will soon find which corner the problem is. Could be air or adjustment

That could work but when I bled the brakes I had zero bubbles on the second go. So if air is in the system its either caught in the lines or somewhere in the ABS. Wouldn't clamping the lines only show a leaking bleeder?

Bagles, Did you fix this? I have squishy brakes on a 2010 escape... replaced the master, and bleed, but still there. Next step is to replace the HCU but that is $650, so want to make sure that's the problem before I throw another part at it. I also, think I need to do an IVD Cal after, but not sure if FORScan will do that or not.
