Have you cleaned out the EGR valve in case this is sticking open?

I would guess testing the engine when warm as it give a steadier idle.

The charts would look OK to me but just learning this.

My egr is blocked since 2008...cleaned and blocked the pipe..

Only the injector number one is a little different from the others, I will do another clean in a few month an compare the results before and after
This time I didn't do the before because only found this site and software after the cleaning

I can say the cleaning works and for less then 10€ if I were you I also do it before spend more money in a garage

Today I sorted my injectors, the car sound a lot better no rattles, heavy knocking etc, very light rattle when cold but when warm all seems OK.

I had replaced the Fuel pressure regulator that mounts on the pump and still same, already had injector 1 replaced and no difference.

So I went on ebay and bought a leak bye tester used this following a sequence of :-
2 mins on idle
30 secs 3800 rpm
30 secs idle
30 secs 3800 rpm
30 secs idle
30 secs 3800 rpm
30 secs idle
switch off

The Injector in cylinder 3 had about a third more diesel in the bottle then the rest, all the rest were virtually the same.

So after a visit to a diesel supply shop for injector seals, fabricating my own injector socket as none in stock locally
I used the injector removed from cylinder one cleaned up on the outside only and installed in cylinder 3.

Used FORscan to change the injector values and went for a drive whilst the car settled down with I assume new learned values???

Anyway the car is running a lot better, smoother, no black smoke that I can see in the mirror.

The injector now removed is back in the shop so I could get my surcharge back.

I will leave the car for a few days now to do all the tweaks it thinks it needs to the fuelling and then will take readings with FORsan and save them to disk and keep as a reference.

I can only assume the injector was leaking into the cylinder slightly causing premature ignition hence the pinking/knocking sound and the back smoke.

FORScan wrote: How to:

1. Run & connect, go to Dashboard section
2. Double click on a dashboard or press Setup button, PIDS selection dialog will be opened. Select ICU module. Select PIDs CYL1_RATIO, CYL2_RATIO, CYL3_RATIO, CYL4_RATIO and click OK.
3. Run the engine, wait until engine speed is stabilized at idle.
4. Click Start button and monitor for some time.
Hi,
I was trying to read myself in my european Ford Focus Mk3, but in my list there is no ICU module, and those PIDs are nowhere.
I'm missing something?
(latest FORScan, and russian ELM)

Thanks.

The above sequence/PIDs were for Mondeo Mk3 TDCi (2003 model year). We don't know such PIDs for Focus Mk3 TDCi (they may exist but we have no information about them). Also, we have checked it with Ford IDS - it has no any power balance/cylinder contribution test for this model, as well as any PIDs that would help to execute such a test.

any chance, that you would implement similar injectors test as in IDS/WDS, in the nearest future ?

Well... It seems we were wrong and in fact it is not easy for user to implement such a test in FORScan manually (too many nuances). So it looks like it is a good idea to implement such a test in FORScan.

btw, forscan is really a great tool!

I am also interested in is that value of 1.465:1 the same for all engines and if not where can we obtain it from?
Also can someone explain the PID CYLx_TRIM and whether it should be different than 0?
One last thing it didn't become clear to me should the values be read after warm up or on a cold engine, or across the entire temperature range?
