Ford Focus 2013 SASM Calibration SASM CB100:85

Post by anker505 » Mon Mar 18, 2019 3:55 pm

I am dealing with an SASM CB100:85 "Signal above allowable range error"" DTC

When running the SASM calibration routine, I am asked to center the wheel and continue and the routine completes successfully. I was under the impression that to perform a SASM calibration, the routine also had to include a calibration point from lock to lock (left lock and right lock). Forscan does not ask for this. Can anyone confirm whether the behavior of the calibration only asking to center the wheel is correct.

After calibration, when I check output of SASM live data, the sensor is not showing 0 degrees when wheel is centered. I can get to 0, but have to turn the wheel 180 degrees clockwise from center. From there the output varies to +- 3000 degrees between Left and Right Lock. I believe I have a faulty SASM but curious as to why the Forscan calibration passes without error if that is the case.

Any help on how the calibration routine works would be appreciated.

I am running 2.3.20 extended license

take it apart and check for grease ingrees on the pick up wheel or sensor , believe someone had the same problem awhile ago and end up been grease on the pick up wheel after he fitted a new one .

if all is clear and clean then yes the unit probably needs replacing .
i am the same as you just a forscan user still learning .

Thanks. Yes I did see that post and will try.

Was just curious if anyone had specifics on how the calibration worked and whether just running at the center position would take care of the left and right lock values as well.

Replaced SASM with a new module.
Ran Forscan Calibration. No change in behavior. Forscan only asks that wheel be centered before running routine.
Calibration completed successfully and checking live data shows 0 degrees when centered.
All now good.
