Ford connect 2011 turn signal

Post by yann500 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 11:45 am

Hello,

I don't have right turn signal on ma ford connect, I checked with FORScan and I didn't see any error. I think it's an error on GEM module. Do you know if this module is checked by FORScan?

Thanks in advance.

Yannick.

In general case Ford models have very different network configuration, it very depends on model generation, market, vehicle type and so on. Also, GEM module is often on MS-CAN bus that is not read by ELM327 by default (requires OBDLinx MX adapter or modification of ELM327). So, we don't know about your case. Please provide identification info for your vehicle (Vehicle->Configuration) and we will try to help.

In first I very appreciate your help. I’ve modified my ELM 327 with add a switch and connect with MS_CAN is ok. But I don’t have compatible software for read and clear DTC on GEM. My car is a Transit connect 2011. See attached file for GEM identification. I think my problem is due to a burn out bulb, even after replacement right turn signal doesn’t work. But I think this circuit is overload protected.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, there is no file attached. Anyway, Transit 2011 has no GEM, instead of it has BCMii module (BCM - body control module). This module is on HS-CAN, so you should be able to read it even without MS-CAN switch.

If no DTC code for BCM, try to run self-test for this module, and/or find PIDs related to right turn in BCM and IPC modules (IPC - instrument cluster, requires MS-CAN).

Please note it can be mechanical or electrical fault not catched by the on-board diagnostic system of the vehicle.

Can you confirm this module is GEM?

See attached file for diagnostic error. Is it a true DTC or bad diagnostic? It was not possible to clear it.

Thanks in advance.

Confirmed

We believe it is a true DTC, but considering it is quite serious (as require a module replacement in case of worsest scenario) we would prefer to double check if you send us internal FORScan logs (http://forscan.org/contactus.html)

It is also normal - in case of GEM errors, if the problem still exists, cleared DTC may re-appear immediately.

Thanks for your response. I will send you log folder next time. But I would like to know if is it possible to have a PID for test right turn light? In Forscan I only found turn light switch and operation was ok.

All PIDs available in our database for your model should be displayed by FORScan. If some PID is missing, it most likely means it is not supported by the module itself.

Start button at the bottom left corner of the screen -> All programs -> FORScan folder -> FORScan Log Folder
