U2023 Code

Post by 09Ranger » Sat Aug 23, 2014 9:33 pm

I'm getting a U2023-20 Code. What is the -20? I've never seen a code with an extension before but I'm really new to this.

I have no idea how long the code has been there since it hasn't triggered a MIL and I just got FORScan.

The description makes it sound as though this code can be triggered by a number of things that vary from harmless to 'better get it fixed'.

I'm inclined to clear the code and see if it re-occurs but I'd like to get the opinion of someone that knows what they are doing.

Thanks,
Walt

Its a Node Communication error code

ABS or RCM

Could've been an intermittent connection, or someone unplugged something somewhere for some reason at some point.

Clear it, nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks Mike,

That was the way I saw it but I'm so new to this whole 'wrenching by wire', thing that I thought I'd better check,

Of course clearing that DTC gave me a P1000. Guess I'll go for a drive around town next.

The "-20" byte contains additional info like status. It is decoded by FORScan in DTC description. In your case FORScan should tell you that it means "Previously set DTC not present at time of request"

On CAN vehicles the Uxxxx codes (network/communications) may be caused by a diagnostic equipment that may create "interferencies", because on-board modules communicate with each other using the same CAN network. We didn't analyse this problem, however our experience shows that not only ELM327 and FORScan but also professional equipment may cause these codes.
