How to perform HID headlamp calibration for Mondeo Mk3

Post by FORScan »

Although this article is specific for Mondeo Mk3 (2000-2007), the issue may be actual for other Ford and Mazda models with xenone headlamps.

Thanks to Marcin Tomalak who found the solution and sent us the photos. Also thanks to unknown guys from Ford Club Polska who gave us the hint where to search.

Mondeo Mk3 vehicles equipped with xenone headlamps (High Intensity Discharge headlamps, HID) have auto-leveling system that requires special calibration procedure in case of HID components replacement or repair. In fact, the owner needs it every time when the LHID module (main HID module, placed in the left headlamp block) throws DTC B2477 and B2626.

The calibration procedure was one of the first service functions implemented in FORScan, however we got a lot of complaints from users who claimed it doesn't work. In the meantime, we were sure the procedure works OK as some other users were able to perform the calibration. Finally, it was found out that the procedure fails if the auto-leveling sensor is not set to zero level position. Normall, when vehicle is on level ground, the sensor has to be in the zero. If it is not so, the calibration procedure will fail.

This is indeed strange? You need to provide more info to allow for an informed answer.
What version of Forscan are you using?
What adaptor are you using?
What type, Windows, Andriod, Apple, wired or bluetooth?
I have performed calibration before on Focus mk3, 3.5 and latest mk4, Mondeos similar all have worked well, although did need the team to send me test version for the latest mk4.
Things to check, make sure your drivers are up to date as is Forscan, some functions can only be performed using wired adaptors.
Have you tried rolling back to earlier version of Forscan to see if facility is restored.
I honestly don't understand how the facility was there originally but not now you have added the licence. Adding a licence to allow programming should not effect the functionality of the program.
If you have paid licence you could always PM the Forscan team, who are very helpful

Hello, can someone send me the HID headlight calibration file. I have forskan v2.4.6 beta and in a Ford focus Mk3 2017 car (the car comes from the USA) I cannot calibrate the headlights because the function is not available.

Not sure what you mean by the calibration file, it comes as part of the Forscan package when you download it, dont think its possible to send a specific part nor would it work if you could. If you have not got the facility on the latest version of Forscan but it was there before buying the licence then you need to contact the Forscan team for assistance.
If youre talking about Firmware update then yoy need a different version of Forscan and a lot of luck!
