Vehicle Detection

Post by 2007 MZR-CD » Sat Aug 02, 2014 12:18 am

I have two Mazda's.

One is a Mazda 6 MZR-CD build date 2006 and FORScan detects it as 2005.
One is a Mazda 3 MZR-CD build date 2006 and FORScan detects it as 2006.

My question, is the software detecting the details from the ECU and does this have any bearing on the actual vehicle.

Current versions of FORScan display so-called model year and not build date. In other words, if some model was being built from 2005 to 2007, and specific vehicle of this model was manufactured in 2007, FORScan will display 2005. Information about model, including model year is detected based on the information read from ECU. Displaying actual built year will be added in future versions of FORScan.
