Power steering ,no error codes.

Post by lynchmeister76 »

Hello ,
I'm still new to forscan and I'm just beginning to understand basic terms.
I have a 2015 ford transit connect v408 van.

I purchased it in December 2020 from main dealer , have had issues with power steering since then.

No error codes

Dealer told me the steering was stuff because I had too much weight on one side.

Changed the configuration and made a little difference but still felt strange.

Determined to figure out what is going on I got forscan on my phone and discovered that the pscm.sw_angle sensor is reading 5773.50.

Why is there no error if the sensor is not working ?

Out of frustration ,I used forscan to turn off stability control and use abs only , which has made steering easier to use.

I don't feel safe doing this and don't know how to deal with problems like this , should the dealer have known it was this?

I previously wrote a post but forgot to mention the vehicle was secondhand, 90k km

Thank you

What region, NA, Euro or Asia? Include the engine type in the profile.
Post the main faults /strategy screen and the installed "Modules" images.
"pscm.sw_angle sensor is reading 5773.50" = absolutely incorrect
"too much weight on one side" - Please ask the dealer to repeat that statement and record it on a mobile device.
"should the dealer have known it was this" - Likely the first person in their generation to fall out of a tree.

Request your or another dealer even Ford eitis and see if stability control was an added option for your vehicle.

Another test is with a passenger to capture all 4 ABS wheel speed sensor activity (speed) driving in a straight line.
In theory, the steering angle sensor should be close to 0.0 degrees.
Was that vehicle involved in a road accident? Did the dealer or another knuckle dragging Neanderthal replace / not calibrate the position of the spiral spring (clock spring) under the drivers airbag unit?
Post that image as well.

Why the double post for the same issue?

Hi ,
Thank you for replying .

The double post was because I forgot to mention I just purchased the vehicle , so I don't know if it was crashed.

The first problem I had was the vehicle battery ran flat few times shortly after purchasing, I had to remove the original six year old battery and replaced.

I will record any information I can and report.

Thank you

The Android / iOS versions work good but the adaptations and bi-directional controls work with the PC version.
At the same time, posting the images of all the network faults can offer an idea of how and what needs to be accomplished.
Is this a Euro or NA version?

Did the replacement ensure / test the electrical parasite and does the new battery hold its charge?
A battery replacement does require a few adaptations within the network and control units.

Hello ,
I've checked the battery in forscan lite and it reads 75%

There is no sensor on the battery so amp reading is 0

How can I have a percentage of 75 if there is no battery sensor ?

Which Lite version are you using, Android or iOS?
In either case, one of these provide a good reading link:
https://forscan.org/documentation_Android.html
https://forscan.org/documentation_iOS.html

About 3/4 down the page, look for this entry:
"If you tap over a row, the PID details screen will appear"
That percentage you read is an interest with the named short form of the PID in question.
Post that image and any other images relating to the battery or if it has anything to do with "Energy Management".
