Focus 2 1.6 tdci - DTC errors

Post by razvvvc » Thu Aug 22, 2019 8:41 am

Hello, I have a Ford Focus 2 1.6 tdci 109 hp 2005 - without DPF from the factory(G8DA)
I've got myself an OBD scanner dedicated for Ford and activated auto lock and instant fuel consumption. Then I went ahead using Forscan and looked at the DTC codes and I tried to reset them, I said tried because I wasn't succesful. I went to the DTC page and pressed the warning triangle which reseted the module. I pressed and I think followed the steps(or not very precise) and after I did this I've got much more errors(see the photo): https://postimg.cc/VrJYsKy5

I just want to ask: did I screwed up anything? My car seems to work fine, and I've got no errors on the car screen. Should I try to reset the DTC again? If I dont reset the errors and I leave them like that can anything happen to my car? Thanks in advance for any response.

A lot of codes there. The only problem you have when first you scan it you don,t know when the codes were set. When you pressed the yellow triangle, you read all the modules. No harm done. You should make a note of these codes. Then you can delete the codes and see what comes back and address the faults. To delete the codes, its at the bottom of the screen next to "connect to vehicle" Hover over it to highlight it.

Thank you for your answer, I pressed the triangle which reseted the module(the second triangle) not the first one with the script. I followed the steps with ignition off and switch to ms(hs) can on the obd tester.
Can harm be done because I reseted a module(and got more errors)? Do these errors affect in anyway the way how the car handles on ther road?

If the codes came back, These are relevant and need to be addressed. Post the codes here and we might be able to help. If not then you will have to take it for repair. What ever you decide, do not ignore them. You only make matters worse.

To be completely honest with you I had the car for almost 2 years now.. It's been running very good, it doesnt matter it's summer at 40c or winter at -15c the car starts and run without any struggle. I never had any light(check engine or anything like that) coming on the dashboard.

I've got the tester pretty cheap, 10 euros and I thought it would be a good idea to activate some extra functions and read the DTCs put it.

My only question is because i reseted a module with DTC nothing can happen? For example if I reseted the ABS module would it still be working or it would need some progamming?? or if I reseted something at the engine, wouldn't it need some calibration or something like that? Can you broke something by resetting the modules on DTC? If you could answer this question i would really apreciate @denbo

Resetting DTCs doesn't make a problem go away.

It only erases the notification(s) that a problem (or problems) occurred sometime in the past.

Think of DTCs as records/messages of "flight data recorder" type information that are generated when certain monitored fault conditions occur within your vehicle's various systems.

This information is then electronically stored in your vehicles (computer) modules for future review and troubleshooting purposes.

You have not broken anything. As long as you have a good battery and stay away from pressing buttons that you don,t understand you,ll be fine.

Good advice.. I usually read or watch some videos before I do something at my car, I guess I got carried away by how easily I activated auto lock and instant fuel consumption.
Thanks a lot.
