2019 F550 ABS Code U2101

Post by PopsTowing »

I have a 2019 F550 that is presenting an ABS Code U2101. Any idea?

Any help appreciated.

Just to clarify. I have reset DTCs multiple times only for it to return. It is with the ABS module. Yes, I know about the following when you do a search:

-Body Control Module (BCM) not configured
-Body Control Module harness is open or shorted
-Body Control Module circuit poor electrical connection

However, wouldn't I have additional issues if the BCM is not configured, if the harness is open/shorted or if there is a poor electrical connection?

Thanks in advance.

The U2101 code and U type codes in general are universal for all modules not just for the BCM. DTC online Searches many times only focus on one module! The list only indicates the possible causes and you can substitute Anti-lock Brake Module for Body Control module! Misconfiguration is the most common that sets this DTC, but harness and connector problems(bent pins or pushed out sockets) should be checked as a first service!
Modules should never be replaced based on a U type code alone!

This DTC indicates a loss of communication between modules over the CAN network due to the Module the DTC has set in either being misconfigured(Any module change without running IDS PMI or Forscan Configuration And Programming to program it to the vehicle) or it has some how lost its configuration!(rare but it can happen. A Power surge from a Jump start has been known to do this) or pins and sockets are not connecting, harness damage etc.!

The ABS module communicates data to and receives data from several other modules including, but not limited to the BCM, PSCM and/or SCCM and PCM as primary especially, if the vehicle is equipped with traction control(will usually light the traction control lights MIL light and the "Wrench Light"and set IPC messages)! Additional U type DTC's may(but not always) also be set in modules that depend on data transfers from the ABS!

Have any modules or configurations been changed or any damage been sustained on this vehicle recently?

Thanks for the input.

This truck has been "deleted" and tuned.

An inspection has found that the right rear brake pads were severely worn to the point that the metal backing of the pad was eating into the rotor. Also, the piston from the caliper was pushed out as it had reached its limits.

I can only assume this is the culprit. I have reassembled the right side and will be pulling the left side apart in the morning.
