Programming ..

Post by benrsturbo92 » Sun Jun 23, 2019 11:50 am

Hi,

I have a project on the go at the moment and would like some advice.

Im fitting a 1.8TDci engine into a older car (they are abit smoother than a tddi  ) the fitting isn't a issue.

I have got the engine, wiring loom(full car), ecu, clocks, ignition switch and transponder but the only issue here is i do not have the key is there any help i could gather to help me program a key without having the original one.

When plugged into FORScan i can not see anything under programming
Could a ecu reset / reflash and relearn be my only way?

EDIT : ecu/engine/loom is from 2006 ford focus 1.8tdci 115)
Thanks

Do you have the extended license? I've only had FORScan for a few hours, but I'm pretty sure programming a key is one of the functions you would need to purchase an extended license for.

No, but it should still show as a function i believe.
AS soon as i know it will do what i need it to do i will have no problems getting a life time license.

Thanks if you could , retro fitting the engine etc into a older car is easy part but because the items where out of a scrap yard someone else had already gotten the original key so i need to someone get a new key programmed to the ecu.

you dont need the buy a licence to try it out , you can get a trial licence for 2 or 3 months to see if it works then buy a lifetime licence if you still need to .
i am the same as you just a forscan user still learning .

You don’t need a new key just programme your old key into the new ecu, also the part you say is the transponder is just a receiver for the key and they’re all the same so don’t need to change it

an older mondeo but first i want to get it running on the floor then will find out about mounting everything.
its probably (well almost definatley) not worth doing BUT the car has sentimental value has it was bought brand new.
