Adding navigation to Sync 2

Post by WildBill » Tue May 28, 2019 8:59 pm

I had version 3.10 and was not able to add navigation. I learned that in this new version the ability to add navigation has been edited out. I then downgraded my Sync 2 software back to 3.08. I've made the changes on line 7D0-01-02, it now reads as 7D0-01-02...0403-0000-02E3. The original values were 8003-0000-025F in version 3.10. I pressed the WRITE button and the system tells me the interface is connected (Green) and the vehicle is also green. At the bottom of the page the line says "Executing Service Procedure, the progress line remain at ZERO even after several hours. So I'm stuck here, when I go back to the icon with the blue car and the letter "i" and try to disconnect using the unplug connection button nothing happens and I am unable to disconnect (possibly because the executing service procedure appears to be active) At this point my only option is to close the Forscan program. Any advice on what's going on would be appreciated.

This is a Lincoln - right? The set of numbers should be 84XX XXXX XXXX. The 8 designates its a Lincoln. See if that works. My 2015 MKC started with an 80XX and I put the 4 after the 8. Before that I erroneously entered 04 and that just gave me a screen for Ford and whatever the 0 programs. There are people putting navigation on 3.10. This February I downloaded the official 3.10 from the Lincoln site. Went back to 3.08 and then installed the official 3.10 and it did not affect my navigation.

Very interesting, I've not seen this advice anywhere during my searches to add navigation on Sync 2. I'm going to try this right away. Thanks very much Lenko. As the days go in my efforts to do this I've learned quite a bit and step by step I'm getting closer. Appreciated

To keep your Sync to to a Lincoln you definitely need the 8.

Check out my posts on this site a few years ago: https://forum.xda-developers.com/window ... st70265849

I've seen other references to 8 being the Lincoln designation, but it was a few years ago and I can't remember where. Hope this solves your issues.

Found line 22: 7D0-01-02 *xxx xxxx xxxx Brand: 0=Ford, 8=Lincoln, C=Configurable Splash Screen

On this site under tab APIM: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 0/htmlview#

I'm really stuck. Trying to add navigation to my 2011 Lincoln. Had version 3.10 and was told that version deleted the ability to add navigation. I downgraded to 3.08 and have not been able to add the navigation. Using Forscan I edited line 7D0-01-02 to read 8403-0000-0263. I added the "8" to represent this was a Lincoln. I got this information from the Forscan forums website. I've made the changes on line 7D0-01-02, it now reads as 7D0-01-02...0403-0000-02E3. The original values were 8003-0000-025F in version 3.10. I changed the first two digits to read "84". After writing this to the APIM module I entered the files as shown in your video. This failed so I tried other files I found on Forscan but nothing worked except the downgrade to 3.08. From the number of attempts I made I'm pretty sure my problem is in the values I set on line 7D-01-02. Do you have any advice on what this line should actually read?

Assuming Navigation was available in 2011 on Sync2 equipped vehicles, you can search autotrader and other used car sites for a 2011 Lincoln w/Nav. Pull the as built from the VIN and look for different register values. Look at a lot of vehicles. This may be your only hope. You may be the first to do this exact modification.

Good luck.

In the new Forscan there are two APIM modules showing, one with lines that you can write actual changes(as you are doing). The other shows things you can enable- Navigation is about the 5th line and all you do is click on the line and two options should come up - enable or disable. This is another way of turning navigation on. Maybe this will work for you.
My 7D0-01-02 was 800B 0000 80E5 It now is:
840B 0800 80F1. The second 8 in the second set of numbers gives me a Black Label boot up screen.

Maybe the 3 in your first set is a B. Don't worry about the very last set of 4 numbers, those change automatically to the appropriate numbers when you write. As an alternative try the "write all" at the bottom of the page as it redoes the entire module and may put everything in correctly.

If none of this works, it's possible that the Navigation file isn't correct for this Sync Version.
I would also do Don Ridley's advice as a 2011 Lincoln my have slightly different numbers than my 2015 MKC.

If you have Sync 3.08, you need Nav 3.08..... Sync 3.10/ Nav 3.10

Wildbill and I live in the same town. A few weeks ago we tried my A7 card in his vehicle and he had navigation. It was his A1 card that wouldn't work so he obtained an A10 card which works. As long as you get Riochim's Navigation file on XDA it will work. It has both - for 3.08 and 3.10.
