The license can be moved to another computer as long as it is uninstalled from the original computer and the Paid activation code can then be used to activate the Paid license on another computer. Just Don't loose or misplace the activation code!
Thanks that mean when have paid code I’m not HWID restricted and if I change my device (like broken hdd or something) just use code to activate to other one.
The Paid license is tied to "One Hardware Id" (You will see the the hardware ID in a greyed out box after you click the "Enter Activation Code" button) the same as the two month free trial and activates that Hardware Id at a server online thus in order to change hardware Id's it must be uninstalled(Deactivated at the online server) from one computer before it can be activated on another computer!

The fly in this ointment in the above situation would be if your paid license is on a computer that will not boot in order to uninstall the License( like a non functional Hard drive but more likely on a non functional machine). In that case an email to contact@forscan.org with your My Commerce Invoice is likely to be needed. However; A change in hard drive and a reinstall of the OS and Forscan on the same computer probably would not change the hardware Id and it should be possible to just reactivate it.

You can of course buy as many licenses as you wish by paying for more than one At the My Commerce site and the same activation code will be tied to as many computer Hardware Id's as you wish or can afford to license

sorry for the noob question, i definitely did notwant to start a new thread on this. When i entered my activation key (for the trial version), i did not realize that I was supposed to get the key from the actual software and i used the number in the "what is this" link screenshot, and it successfully licensed it and is giving me an expiration date. However, this number key is different than what is on my forescan application. I can't seem to figure out how to change it. Is there a way to register the correct key, or can I just roll with this one?

Edit to add: I hooked it up to my truck just to see if the obdlinkex was working and it loaded all of the truck information, which makes me think it will work but I definitely don't want to do anything wrong that might cause problems in the long run. All I am trying to do is recalibrate my speedometer.

I am not understanding what Hardware ID you say you used?

If you copied the the Hardware ID to the clip board with the "Copy to clip board" button in the Forscan About(Wheel Icon) page then that ID will appear in the field beside the "What is this" link?" at extlic.php and the key generated and down loaded with the ID in that field will only install successfully on the computer with that ID.

The process should not work to license Forscan successfully to a computer with any other Hardware ID !

If it worries you then use the uninstall button in the About page to uninstall back to standard license and do the process of copying the Hardware ID to the clip board and doing the license generation again and if the ID is correct, the extlic.php site will give you an error saying "There is already an active license generated for this Hardware ID".

If you get that message just reload the license key you already have from where you have it stored on your hard drive and every thing is good!
