Can I use Ford VCM II for Suzuki diagnosis?

Post by JimmyLIN » Tue Jul 10, 2018 2:19 am

Is it possible to use a VCM II unit for Suzuki diagnosis with SDT 2?
Yes!
eobdtool.co.uk blog shares one example

The basic steps
- install IDS software in clean VM Windows 7 32 bit.
- downgrade firmware to v2.1.119.19
-Mazda-V94
- install SDT SDT-II_soft_2140025
- in C:\Program Files\Bosch\VTX-VCI copy all files from "VCI Software (Ford-VCM-II)" to "VCI Software (6516-Suzuki)"
and run.

Very late reply, but yes you can.
I am providing engineering support for an unknown OEM's program of 6516 VCI's. There are minor differences between the brands, but the Suzuki and Ford ones are the same internally. For some truck manufacturers there is a 2nd board added and versions with condensator or SD card have been produced.
The firmware is different between brands. There may've been bug fixes or improvements not implemented on all manufacturers' branches.
