Modify elm327 ms can pins

Post by martin123 » Sun Jan 28, 2018 4:17 pm

This is from the firs can guide:
The picture below illustrates the thing (ATTENION: the OBD2 jack on the picture means vehicle one, "female". The adapter's one is "male", so it is "mirrored". Pins are often mixed up because of this. Always note pins' numbering of the adapter's jack!):

Always note pins numbering etc?
What does that mean?
Almost every other guide is the same, without valid sensible English directions.
So,anyway, getting back to my question. When the diagrams are showing PIN numbers are those diagrams of the car side? Or is it the adaptor side? I think the guide needs a little tweaking with clearer English possibly

if you look under strong light and a magnifying glass there should be numbers next to (or above) each pin, or a number on the L&R of each row telling you which pin is number what.

I have an OBDLink SX and each pin is labeled in this manner. similar to the old parallel printer port plugs used back in the '80s that hooked your printer to your computer.

_____________
| 1. . . . . . .7|
------------------
|8. . . . . . .14|
_____________

(you get the idea)

I don't know if all scanner jacks are numbered, but it never hurts to look
