2017 focus SBL files

Post by motorhead45102 » Tue Jul 18, 2017 1:59 pm

hello everyone, I have used forscan a few times and I have used it on my 2015 focus and was able to turn cruise control on, which was not possible with ford IDS on my car since I have an S manual model, but I do have cruise control, so a buddy at work has a 2017 focus automatic and I tried to go in the same way I did on my 2015 focus but now I'm missing the SBL files for the 2017 GV6T-14C097-AA. so I for some reason am having a hard time finding any new or updated sbl files. any help will be appreciated.

ok, so if anyone has read my first post, I was able to get the SBL file from our IDS at the shop, I did some file digging(ford kinda hide stuff) and I found the one file that ford changed for the 2017 focus, like literally the archive sbls of forscan and the ids sbl files none have really changed except the one for the 2017 focus and I just copied the file over to the forscan sbl folder and it worked like a charm. and since I have ids access I used the vcm2 which worked much faster than my half @ss Bluetooth adapter(Chinese elm) which I used the Bluetooth adapter for my 2015 focus and somehow it did work and not brick the bcm, but after the iffy experience with that ill only use the vcm2 with forscan.

Hello

Thanks for the thread. I would like to learn how to enable cruise control on 2015 on focus

I can enable it easy using my genuine vcm2 with ids on fiesta but never found how to do so on a focus. If I use ids on a focus u can enable it in see was as a fiesta in ccc for pcm but does work. So there must be so thing else needed? A fiesta only needs it to be enabled on the pcm ccc

Any ideas?

I only know of this to work on 2015-2017 focus s, I have not tested on any newer or older builds, however, on 2015 the SBL file already exist with the sbl files under the archived files on forscans website. however on 2017 vehicles I do know you need the newer SBL files since it is not in the forscan software, the SBL file needed is stated in my first post. However my 2015 focus and a friends 2017 now both have cruise control by: Buying a new steering wheel that has the factory cruise control setup, its literally plug and play no mods to wires or anything, and if ordered from a dealer the steering wheel does come with the required cruise switch pack, if it does not you will need the switches, the reason for the new steering wheel is there is not cutout or threads tapped in the wheel to add just the switches. Then all you need to do is connect to the vehicle with forscan, (make sure you have the extended license in order to do module programming) go to the BCM Central configuration and let the load up and once you see the list of bcm options scroll down to cruise control and select (with cruise) in the menu options and click on write to bcm/module. and after that the cruise should be working. That is all I have done and I only know it to work on my 2015 focus S(manual trans) and the 2017 Focus S(DPS6 auto transmission). And both are in the us, so I do not know if there is any difference between countries on how the focus's are setup, though I'm sure someone else in the forum might have the answer.

Can I just ask. What is the difference between vbf and sbl files please?

vbf is the format of files vhich uses Ford for distribution of firmware upgrade (Volvo binary file). The type of the file can be sbl - secondary bootloader
or exe - calibration file. In most cases for upgrade it it s necessery to load first sbl and than exe. (both are distributed in vbf format.)
