Activate Cruise Focus MK3.5 (2017)

Post by scouselang » Wed Apr 12, 2017 7:41 am

Does anyone know how to activate cruise on the latest 2017 focus (mk3.5). I have fitted the steering wheel, which has the appropriate buttons. I have the extended version of forscan which communicates great with the vehicle but it gives codes in bricks. Don't know which to change :?: :?: .
I have also tried foccus but the car really didn't like communicating with this program, I think the car is too new for the software.
Can anyone please advise as the local ford dealer will not get involved, plus I would like to know how to do it myself as my vehicle is the 1st of many we are hoping to do.

I'm having the exact same issue. Have reprogrammed the BCM (confirmed by options being correct when I take a download) but focccus will not talk with the IPC. Mine does not work and I suspect this is because the IPC does not know it should have cruise. I've tried to do the same with Forscan, have downloaded in the central config (which again confirms my changes) but will not take to the IPC. I get an error message saying there is a missing file

Any help anyone would be much appreciated

Not sure about the Focus but on 2015-2017 F150s you'd need to change button function in SCCM, 3 changes in IPC (CC Options, Collision Warning, Collision Warning Sensitivity), BdyCM & CCM.

Thanks for that. The car recognises the change in central config and recognises it should have cruise control. It just doesn't work! I suspect it needs telling that it has the buttons on the wheel now so potentially a config issue with the SASM. I may try resetting it if that's an option.

I have a thread up on this if anyone wants to check it out, I only have added cruise to a 2015 focus S and a 2017 Focus S. And literally all I have done is Install the new steering wheels and go to BCM central configuration(not the as-built way) and turned cruise to(with cruise) and wrote to the bcm. And it works, and of course it only will show up in the cluster when the vehicle is running. Also the two focus's I installed cruise on are in the US. so I don't know if there is differences with other locations outside of the US, however on 2017 vehicles you will need to download a new SBL file for the secondary boot loader to work on the BCM central configuration. the 2015 SBL file is in an archive file on forscan's website.
Also here is the SBL needed for 2017 focus's atleast its the file name for it. (GV6T-14C097-AA) I'm new to the forscan forum so I do not know if I can upload the file to anything, its a super small file too.

Thanks, that's something to try! Where can I download SBL files from?

I'm not sure outside of where I got it from, I work in a shop that has an IDS and I got the file from that. well I tried the upload attachement and it says the extension vbf is not allowed, so I guess the other way I can do it is send it over email.

Found it last night thanks
So just to get my head around this, you followed the exact same procedure on your friends 2017 focus as you did on your 2015 but made sure you had the correct boot loader in the correct file on Forscan?
Did you also write the new changes to the IPC as well?

yeah, the SBL for the 2015 focus was in the archive files on forscan's website, but the 2017 focus was a new file. Both 2015 and 2017 focus was programmed the same way. But I never programmed anything in the IPC. just the BCM central configuration(not as-built edit) and saved the changes on the cruise control and it works like it came with it from the factory. Will show up above the car icon in the IPC screen with(SET speed). Its pretty straight forward and should work, as long as whatever obd adapter you have can do it safely. if you have a VCM2 that would be the best way to program it but I also got it to work with my ebay mini Bluetooth adapter but that adapter is extremely slow.
