Still powering the dashcam from USB port side by the mirror

Post by MartyCZ »

Hello, sorry for my bad english but they can't help me anywhere.

I own a Ford Explorer 2020 where I have an dashcam connected on USB on the mirror. When the engine is turned off, the camera turns off immediately. My Ford mondeo, the camera was still running for 90 minutes after the engine was turned off.

Is there a way for the USB on the mirror side to work, eg 90 minutes after the engine is switched off?

Thank you very much for your help.

Is there an entry in your Owners Manual about the USB attached to the mirror?
Another possible setup?
That one I believe may be ignition key powered ON/OFF.

Unfortunately, we did not find anything in the manual. This option is not available in the vehicle settings either. The vehicle is adapted for the EU, it is possible that there may be a difference in settings.

Thank you.

You will require an electrical schematic for your Euro version and post it.
The best option is to follow the power source.
Are you using FORScan? Is there a screen capture of the installed networks?

Good day,

I'm sorry, I don't have any of this ...
I can use ForScan in basic skills. I made several modifications to the Ford Mondeo, which were primarily for the US, but worked exactly the same on an EU vehicle. I wonder if, for example, you know a line in APIM that I should change from the default value.

Thank you for your help.

Contact your dealer and ask that question and request a wiring schematic for the mirror.
The schematic will determine where it is connected. I will assume the BCM may create and control the voltage.
There may be a setting for the BCM or APIM, that is unknown at this time.
