2020 Ford Everest 2.3T Ecoboost

Post by skywalkerzwj »

Dear all,

I have a 2020 Ford Everest with 2.3T Ecoboost Engine. I have purchased a OBDLinkEX, and activated the extended license for FORScan.

However, when I connect the vehicle to the laptop, FORScan keeps saying "unable to identify vehicle". Strangely, the GUI says it recognize the vehicle as "Ford Everest EcoBoost Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection 2.3L 2020 ( 2020 MY ), VIN: LJX*********85619".

I want to use functions such as auto-fold mirrors, disable engine start-stop, and show trailer sway control in menu. Any ideas what I should do? The log file looks like the following:

Windows 10 Enterprise, Enterprise, Client, 6.3, 2004, 19041, 19041.1.x86fre.vb_release.191206-1406

Is the Laptop a Surface Pro X with the ARM arcitecture?

If so, is this what you're attempted?

If not, describe the Laptop in use.

The laptop I used is a ASUS ZenBook, with an Intel i7-1165G7 CPU (2.80G), 16GB RAM, running Windows 10 Pro (Version 2004, Build 19041.985)

Make a copy of your license and store it in a folder.
Completely uninstall FORScan
Completely uninstall the drivers for the cable
Reboot the computer.
Install the cable with the correct drivers
Install FORScan and place the license in the correct folder
Start FORScan and scan the vehicle again.

Don't be too surprised if Ford protected some networks and your device may not access those protected networks.
Also, what adapter are you using?

Unfortunately the solution doesn't work. I am using the OBDLinkEX with the latest firmware.

Could it be that this model is indeed not supported by FORScan? The 2.3T Ecoboost + 10AT Ford Everest is only available in the Chinese market since 2020.

Interesting theory and have mentioned Ford's protected networks on a few occasions.
Your model will the first known version to fail a connection.
If you're willing to experiment, find another older Ford model and prove your combination laptop and OBDLink actually works.
Make sure you have the correct drivers from the support site and the firmware is updated.
Post your images if you can.
Another test: if there are no other laptops available, is to install VMware and create a Windows 7 Professional 32bit.
That would save the expense of another machine to purchase. The version I use for W10 is VMware 15.
Also, from your end of the planet, can you find a DLC (Data Link Connection) schematic to shows the interconnection of all modules within the network structure in English.

One last mention, is there anything attached or hidden on your model that is NOT factory.
I mention this because of added GPS tracking devices for:
Insurance companies
Banking institutions
Leasing agreements
