ELM327 adaptor not connecting?

Post by Cobbs Tump » Thu Sep 25, 2014 10:00 pm

Just received a 'chinese' interface and it won't connect to my Mondeo using Forscan. Bluetooth to the laptop is fine, it just won't connect to the vehicle.

It does connect using some of the supplied software but this doesn't provide much information.

Before I throw it in the bin, has anyone had similar problems and found a fix?

Many thanks

I have the same looking adapter and it works fine, but everytime i remove it from the obd slot i need to remove device from devices and printers in windows and add it again. If I don't do it, it's seen by the windows but forscan won't connect to the car. Hope it helps.

btw, I'm using win 7 x64

If other software is able to connect, FORScan should be able too. FORScan tries to connect in 2 stages.

Stage 1: Find ELM adapter. If it failed here, it should display No ELM found error. Otherwise it should display adapter type, COM port and baud rate it was connected to.

Stage 2: Find ECU. If failed here, it should display Unable to connect to vehicle.

If FORScan failed on stage 1, please try to play with COM port settings. First, make sure all settings are to Auto. If it is unable to find in Auto mode, look what are COM port settings in other software (that is able to connect) and set the same settings in FORScan.

If FORScan failed on stage 2, please send us logs as instructed on the Contact Us page.
