bbfly BF32302 - adapter not found

Post by mjmitch »

Hi, neither of my windows 10 laptops cannot detect bbfly BF32302

Installed driver from: https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21236_Setup.zip

Then plugged in tool in but it just gives an entry in device manager with yellow exclamation point for "usb serial" in other devices.

Tried removing driver and plugging in to allow windows to plug and pplay but same thing happens.

Extracting the exe and manually installing driver makes no difference either.

Post an image of the bbfly BF32302 device.
Connect with their support for the correct drivers.
Post the link as to where it was purchased.
What type of laptop? Windows version and CPU?

First try running the exe file as Administrator.

If that does not work(I have had trouble with that exe install before and the following was what worked)(Welcome to Windows Plug and Pray), try going here: https://www.scantool.net/scantool/downloads/drivers/ and download the WHQL certified Driver.zip file.

Create a Folder and name it FTDI and remember where you made it as you will be navigating a system process to it.

Unzip the WHQL file to that folder. GO to the Device manager and right click on the serial converter in the other devices that has the yellow ! and click on "update driver" and click the "Browse my computer for driver software" button and with the "Browse Button, navigate the manager to the Previously created FTDI folder which should have a folder beginning with CDM_, Open that folder and two .inf files should appear in the window as well as some folders! Click OK and the next button and then the next button in the next screen and those .inf scripts should run and install the drivers.

If this was successful the Serial converter should now appear under a USB connection. Then run FORScan and open the Gear icon and make sure the connection settings are set to FTDI and a com port and MSCAN support is set to HS/MSCAN switch!

Hope that helps?

Thanks for suggestions. Yes, I was running exe as admin. Installing "CDM_v2.12.28_WHQL_Certified.zip" manually like you said made no difference. It's the exactly the same situation. Crazy how windows doesn't recognize it and install it without the need for downloading drivers. I guess I'll just have throw this £30 tool away and get a different one and hope that's recognized by windows.

The bbfly BF32302 is a POS
If you want the best:
OBDLink EX
https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-ex/

OBDLink MX+
https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-mxp/

If you do not get refunded for that purchase, I will gladly pay the postage and hack it to death and see why so many of those POS fail so often.

Another link for drivers:

Having investigated some more, i've found that a few people mentioned they could only get it working under windows 7 so i'll try that by installing win7 on an old laptop
