Suggest to buy the ELS27. Don't buy a clone though (see clone thread).

I used this:

https://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-34 ... SSAMR4GAE1

Worked well for reprogramming an ABS module on a 2014 mazda 3. I didnt modify it or add a MS switch so im guessing ABS reprogramming doesnt need the switch on my vehicle?

I picked up what proved to be a China knock-off from EBay before I did enough reading on here. Claimed to be a v2.2 adapter. Ran the check through Forscan and hooked it up to my 2000 Ford Ranger. Seemed to work fine so far. Forscan says it's a v1.5, but I'm ok with that since the v1.5 sounds like the better version anyway. Came with a mini CD-R and no paperwork. I downloaded drivers for it (windows) and let Forscan do the rest. Now to see if it will work for getting the keys programmed since PATS doesn't like the one key that came with the truck.

---edit---

So I tried it. Got into PATS ok, got the old keys deleted and two ignition keys programmed, no problem. Tried to program additional keys through Forscan and they all failed. Not sure if it's an issue with the cable or something else. Disconnected and used the on-board programming to add the other keys. They all took that way and I went back in with Forscan to make sure the key count was correct.

I got the ForScan supported ODBII reader in the mail and it works like a charm. Included was a peace of paper that had some url's on it including the ForScan web page :D

Here are the two links that i found useful:

Drivers (All OS)
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Installation Guide (Windows 98-10)
http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documen ... Guides.htm

I would also set the baud rate to (500 kbit/s).

I have this adapter and I have the same year F150 that you have. This adapter is limited to OBD, ISO/SCP and HSCan protocols on these older Fords as there is no MSCAN on these trucks and the OBD SX Adapter has no MSCan Ability natively and is difficult to do the switch mod without doing it in the cable or in a separate OBD extension cable.Their are Forum members who have done this but I have not as I opted for a VCM2 Adapter for the reasons I outline below!

It would not help with these older Fords anyway as these older Fords use a single line Uart based(UBP) protocol on pin 3 (The + MSCAN pin and the main reason for the UBP problem in Forscan) in the OBD connector and development for it in ELM327 based adapters has proven to be difficult if not impossible. The Forscan team has informed me that they are still still looking for a solution to the problem but for now the only option for these vehicles is Ford VCMII, SP177C and C1 china VCM2 Clones and some J2534 Passtrhru Adapters such as CANTIECAR.

I also have a China Clone SP177-C VCM2 and it does work very well in HSCAN/MSCAN in Forscan for newer vehicles( I also have 2010 Fusion) (uses the latest Bosch VCI Manager as the driver interface) but Forscan does not support UBP For The VCM2 and other J2534 Passthru adapters unless one is willing to be a beta tester for them. The UBP protocol is an obsolete North American Ford protocol only and the Forscan team has little access to vehicles to test it with.

Cantiecar is said to work with their software but the only other option with VCM2 adapters is Ford IDS and that is difficult to to get working without spending a lot of time researching patches or VMWare Solutions on various automotive forums, most of which require a monetary donation to get a login and which only work if you are willing to do some hacking yourself, unless you are willing to pay for Fords very expensive license.

I have a couple of setups that work but I will not bring them up here as that would violate Forscan Forum rules!

Unfortunately with automotive diagnostic adapters you very much get what you pay for!

Hello folks!

I'm also new here and I've read this entire Post. I'm in doubt about compatibility...
Will this adapter work for a Fiesta 2014 (1.5 Sigma Engine)? I will be able to write service codes like enable the standard front fog light button?
