Forscan not connecting to car

Post by madisonwh »

Hey guys, i have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. I bought the BBfly OBD adapter, and downloaded the driver. WHen I check on device manager, it says that the device is working correctly, but the application cannot connect to the car. Any suggestions? Its connects to the adapter, just not the car.
Thanks!

You have one of three problems.
1) Garbage adapter - test it on another model
2) A disturbance on the network
3) A device attached to the DLC and similar to point 2

ok, thanks!
I understand point 1, but not point 2 or 3.
Before I get to far into diagnosing this problem, I need to figure out if ForScan can even do what i need it to do.
Can it test the PCM? I have high suspicions related to the PCM.
Thanks for the help!

Simple test, try the adapter on another Ford product.
If it connects, I'm incorrect about the adapter.
If it can't connect to your model, then there is a problem with network connectivity on your vehicle.
