Adapter to switch between MS-can and HS-can bus

Post by y.roos » Sat Jul 12, 2014 2:11 pm

Referring to the topic 'How to access MS CAN bus using FORScanV2 and modified ELM327' by FORSCAN in this forum I decided to build a ready to use 16-PIN OBD compatible adapter with a build switch (actually I did build this a couple of years ago to be used with my Aston Martin DB9 and a FORD WDS system). This adapter (see pictures) enables you to use smaller Bluetooth or WIFI ELM327 units in which there is no room to build in the switch. The adapter has a male connector on one side and a female connector on the other side. The male side goes into your car and the ELM327 goes into the female side of the adapter. According to this prototype a Chinese company is now producing these adapters (I'm not posting a name or link, because I don't know whether this is allowed). If you are interested in this adapter, please sent me a PM, and I will help you with information you need.

Does look like a very good idea. PM doesn't seem to be working.

Please post a link or info as to where these can be found

I don't see anything in the rules against links

To all of you who tried to contact me by PM I do apologize that PM does not seem to be working. The suggestion to prepare an Ebay listing which I can post as a link in this forum seems like a very good idea. I hope it is not against the forum rules. The link is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171425927901

That adapter looks "creepy" :)
Why to put a big adapter like that and not use an already modified elm327 ? It's easy to modify. It's a thread on forum how to do that. Just pay attention to wires....
Have fun

Wow. That's a lot of $$$ and shipping just for a "converter", that doesn't even include an adapter.

You could buy more then the iron, switch, and other bits and pieces for that money.
