Attention! Wrongful and unfair suppliers sell “FORScan” and “FORScan Pro” adapters

Post by FORScan »

We do not manufacture or sell any adapters under “FORScan” or any other brand. Our strategy about adapters is in co-operation with world-leading manufacturers that make special version of their devices for our project. At this moment we co-operate with OBD Solutions (OBDLink product line) and Vgate (vLinker product line), there may be more in the future. We also co-operate with several legal manufacturers of professional J2534 Passthru adapters that do not produce a special version for our project, but provide support and resolve issues if our users get problems using their adapters with FORScan.

So we have no relation to the these “FORScan” and “FORScan Pro” adapters that are being sold on Amazon, Ebay and other popular marketplaces:

Amazon Ebay

These guys from China are really impudent: they not only use FORScan software as a part of their package like it is their own software, but as realized recently, several years ago they registered FORScan trademark in USA, EU and China. So now we cannot remove their counterfeit products from known marketplaces because we have no legal rights for the TM. We have started to dispute it in USA and we believe we will win, but it will not happen soon.

The quality of their adapters is not better than for other chinese “good” clones: they work with FORScan, but they are slow, may produce CAN bus errors and don’t support advanced features developed in the past. They replaced HS/MS switch with DC-DC relay using documentation from our site, so reached “seamless” switching between HS and MS. Otherwise, it is not better that any other clone with mechanical HS/MS switch.

Main problem is that many people associate this package with us. We receive a number of requests to support that started as “I have purchased your FORScan adapter….”. Obviously it means bad experience for users and reputational damage to FORScan brand and product.

So, we would like to ask everyone:

1. Please do no purchase these “FORScan” and “FORScan Pro” adapters, as well as any other adapters that claim to be “FORScan” ones if they are missing from our Products page (https://forscan.org/download.html). If you have any doubts about it, please contact us.

2. If you already purchased it by mistake, we recommend to do 3 things:
- Return it back to the seller and get your money back
- Leave negative feedback for it on the marketplace you purchased it on
- Send “abuse” report to the marketplace administration

Please feel free to insert a reference to this article in your feedback posts and abuse reports.

I see this is being sold on the Wish site. I don't think anyone in the UK would be considering buying one of these at £40. That is way too expensive for an ELM327.

Well, we receive requests and complaints to support every day from people who've purchased it.

It is bad they are using your name on these. I always recommend OHP ELM327 and OBDLink EX on our UK forum.

Emílio OnBoard, representando Angola ao máximo. Acredito na Forscan. Faço uso de um interface Vgate e o Software responde com sucesso. Agradeço ao máximo.

Send it back. You should only buy an ELM327 by OHP or Proscan. Better still, buy the OBDLink EX.

I almost got suckered into buying this thinking it was being sold by someone affiliated with the brilliant person who wrote the code for the app.

Luckily once I read "CAN automatically and enables advanced functions to save your time and money, and dramatically improve your car lifespan."

I knew it was a scam.....this is clearly a Chinese product as they are the only ones cheap/stupid enough to go to all the trouble of making and marketing a product who are too cheap/stupid to not spend a Hundred dollars to have the instructions translated into legible English.
