Asking for a "friend".. If I were to be using one of the Chinese adapters could that be the reason not all of the modules are present in FORScan? I borrowed one from a friend and pretty sure its a bad Chinese version. Plugged into my 17 Fusion Sport I only see the PCM, OBDII, APIM, PAM, BdyCM and BECMB modules.

It has an auto switch built in, is USB. Package says designed in America but not made.. I am just trying to figure out why I don't see more modules. Granted this is my first time playing with FORScan and I have adjusted the settings for the scanner in the app but still no other modules show up.

This is exactly the adapter that Forscan, in the opening post of this thread, was warning about!

I suspect that the auto switching is being done by an RTS relay instead of MSCAN Support being done in the actual PC Board configuration like the OBDLink EX or the vLinker FS adapters!
Changing the MSCAN parameters in the Forscan connection Icon from Auto or MSCAN switch to RTS relay may or may not help bring up the MSCAN bus and the modules on it! There is also the likelihood that this car has an HSCAN2 and possibly HSCAN3 networks which in some cars is also accessed over the MSCAN pins and network

I have seen reports of these having the MSCAN support miss wired or actually missing!

It would seem this adapter is missing MSCAN but without taking it apart I have no other Idea!

Nukin futs.. Ya I kinda figured it wasn't very legit after using it the first time and will invest in a good adapter but will also tweak the settings again to see if it will pull other modules.

One other question. After reading the how to's and watching a video on FORScan I thought we were only supposed to go into the As-Built sections and not the other ones but I found it way easier and saw more options going directly into BdyCM and APIM. Am I wrong??

No! You are not wrong! There are Lots of changes you can do under the Configuration and Programming tab (and Forscan prefers that you work it that way) Those configuration options actually automate and make the changes in the AsBuilt section(take a screen with the snipping tool of the AsBuilt you wish to change in the AsBuilt configuration tab before and after you make the change in the configuration tab to compare and see what the change does)! The configuration process has been automated and in exactly the same way it is done in Fords IDS. AsBuilt in IDS is generally only used as a Back up procedure and is not easy to find in IDS menus!

When members or Forscan users are dong changes in AsBuilt it usually is because someone has discovered something that makes the change they want and it has not been found and automated or never was an option in the Configuration tab or in IDS! They then uploaded that AsBuilt change that worked for them to a forum spread sheet! These changes generally only work for the vehicle that the user was working on and not necessarily will it work on any other vehicle!

There Are vehicle enthusiast forms where these spread sheets have been uploaded to and some of the known options you see in the Configuration tab have been discovered from the research done by members on those forums! Have a look here for some of them viewtopic.php?p=15803#p15803!

The Configuration Tab options are option changes that are known to work in the vehicle you are working on!

Hope that was not too confusing?
