FORScan Lite for Android and USB

Post by tompol74 » Fri Jul 17, 2015 11:14 am

Because FORScan Lite for Android on USB is not implemented yet (and not sure if it will be at all) I wonder if it is possible to connect USB cable adapter to smartphone using any special adapter or special software.

Nope. USB needs a driver for android and support from program to connect to USB. This won´t work until it is implemented into the program.
Also might not be supported by your android device since not every android device has full USB host functionality.
You also might need an adapter to plug in your USB adapter from mini / micro USB to USB-A female (usually called OTG adapter).

It might work with torque for example. They claim to support USB adapters. Not sure you need a driver for that to work. Maybe driver is coded into torque.

I have ST1170-based interface with a USB connector. I started the program I chose DashCommand USB connection and the program merged with the engine. So the chances are that Forscan solid work with a USB interface if only the author of the program will provide such a possibility in the settings.

I would like this feature also, as I have the USB based STN1170 and an android car stereo.
