Failure to read DTC

Post by chasracer »

I get connection to the vehicle as it reads the modules, but on each module it says "Unable to read DTC". I have used Forscan for several years and wanted to run a basic test on my truck as a preventative measure. If I don't have any issues, I usually do this about once a year. I hooked up everything as I normally do and was surprised to see the failures. I went ahead and upgraded to the latest version for Windows and still get the same messages.I use an OBDLink SX that has never given me any problems.

Any ideas where to start looking for the problem?

you have no connection to the vehicle :!:
check forscan connection settings
delete the old car profile and try again

Yep!

I finally figured out that the OBD and the cigar lighter are on the same circuit and that the fuse was popped. The culprit was the cigar lighter that has never been used apparently is now shorted out.

Thanks for the assist.
