Hey guys, I don’t think I have a gen4 but I just changed the 0 to a 1 for 7D0-06-01 and hopefully I didn’t ruin anything if it’s not. Can I tell my generation based on the part number?

I’ve got a 16-19 Focus Sync3 installed in a 2014 F150 (HM5T-14G370-GCD)

I’ve had it installed since April of last year, no problems, but around Xmas I started with dead batteries. Testing pointed to a surging parasitic draw (.25a surging to 3a then back down every 1min or so) narrowed down to a fuse that controls PCM wake up, among other things. If the truck sits for about 4 days, it’s DOA. Since it’s a surging draw, I know it’s not faulty wiring somewhere and it leads me to believe it’s a computer somewhere not going to sleep as it should. The only “newish” thing on the truck is the Sync3 setup even though it was there for months ahead of dead batteries.

I’m not 100% if the backlight stayed on the display, but I updated the AB to 1 to see if that’s it. Is there anything else you guys can think of that may cause the APIM to not fully shut down that I can check for?

Edit: oh and I did upgrade to 3.4 recently, but that was after my issues presented themselves.

Much appreciated!

You have to program the older cars using this asbuilt:

7D0-06-01 x1xx change the 0 to 1 and it should turn your screen off now.

I swapped my Sync system a few days ago in my 2014 Focus ST, and each day when I was tweaking settings in Forscan, it told me my battery (which is only a few months old) was a little low. Low and behold, after reading this post I went out in my garage at night and could see the glow of my Sync 3 backlight. I changed this bit and now it turns completely off. Thank you for this post!!!

Hi,
I also have the problem that the screen does not go completely dark. I just changed my Sync2 to Sync 3 and have another problem. I also have lines up to 7D0-09-xx and will change it from 0 to 1 try. But I still have a problem with my parking aid or the display for it. The assistant works perfectly, but the writing is shifted to the left when reversing into the parking space. Maybe someone has a tip?

Someone ran into this on a 2013 MKX that did a Sync 2 to Sync 3 conversion and pointed out to me in an email that this partially solved their problem of parasitic battery drain; so, thank you, because it saved a lot of people (including a Ford dealer), a lot of time. When performing Sync 2 to Sync 3 conversions it seems that any parameter in the APIM that mentions C1MCA needs to be carefully scrutinized otherwise the APIM will not fully shutdown. I think the other half of the the problem is in 7D0-01-01 xx** xxxx xxxx and I'll try to post the full outcome once everything has been resolved. I've done many sync swaps and only run into this sort of problem twice, but it's a nightmare to troubleshoot remotely and in person.

Delete your vehicle profile in ForScan then reconnect the program to your vehicle. ForScan will preload old saved module data based on the assumption it's still there to expedite the connection process. It's a known feature, which is why I encourage users to never save their vehicle profile if they do hardware mods and firmware updates.
