2012 MKX Questions

Post by darkcyber » Wed Oct 02, 2019 3:10 am

I know this is a long running thread, but I have an issue and need a little guidance on. I have a 2012 Lincoln MKX and my backup camera was all goofy, upside down 99% of the time and then off the other times. My MKX had 3.08 I believe, which I had upgraded to a couple of years ago (which in hindsight, seems like all my camera issues started after that upgrade). I read some online that upgrading to 3.10 might fix the issue. So, I upgraded to 3.10 and now my navigation is gone. I don't mean it doesn't work, I mean it is gone. On the top right part of the screen it still shows a circle compass, but you can do nothing with it. On the bottom center of the screen, I only have the "Settings" and "Home" buttons, the third button is now gone. I assume the only way to turn it back on is via FORscan.

Question #1
So, I have been reading through this thread and had a question. Is the only way to get my navigation back to use FORscan? If so, suggestions on the correct plug for the 2012 model and exactly what all I need.

Question #2
I have read about people going back to 3.08. Is there a way to go back without having to use FORscan? I'm just looking for the easiest and least costly way...i.e. not having to purchase adapters, cables...etc.

Question #3
Will one of the newer A9 or A10 sd map cards work in my 2012? I currently have the A3.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I believe that A3 is your problem and you need to upgrade. You can go back to 3.08 without Forscan. All you need is the 3.08 file and a correct install file. I've outlined that in this thread if you do a search you should be able to find it.

OK, thanks! So, would one of the newer A9 or A10 cards fix the problem? If so, I will just order a new card.

I would make sure that I have the proper navigation file first. Try that with your A3. One that is specifically for your version of Sync 2. Riochim's file on post 937 page 94 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/window ... 080/page94. One is for 3.08 and the other for 3.10. so use only the one for your Sync 2. Extract to a USB stick and only have the SyncMyRide folder and the install.lst on the stick and put it in your USB slot with car running.
You can also do a master reset as an added step afterwards if Navigation is not enabled.

lenko,

I've downloaded the file from XDA, that you mentioned in your post, EA5T-14F657-AG. Now, I have a question. On the autoinstall.lst file that comes with that download, am I suppose to replace all of the text in that file, with the text below, from your earlier post? I upgraded to 3.10 and it has lost navigation and screwed up my wipers as well.

Thanks!

You can go back to 3.8 from 3.10, I done it a number of times. The install file can't contain a reference to 3.10. Tedi_K on XDA forums showed me how: Here's the back to 3.8 file:

Followed these steps to a T, when finished, still no Navigation. Top right box in display still only shows the little compass ball and is not interactive and still no third button, for nav, on the bottom middle of the display.

Even tried the nav patch for 3.08, which I downgraded to, and still nothing. Navigation is simply gone.

Read somewhere where any sd card under A4 will not work with the newer syncs. 3.08 or 3.10. I helped one person who had a A1 card that didn't work with 3.10 so he came over and we tried my A7 which worked for him so he bought an A10 off Ebay and that functioned for him.

If you want to go back to 3.08 you copy and paste the entire install file I posted and run that with the Sync 3.08 file. NA 3.08 is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/window ... 0-t3484473 .

Yep, I got my new A10 card in today and it doesn't work. It is not an sdcard issue. The issue is, since I updated to 3.10 (I am already back on 3.08, did that yesterday and still no nav, then did the 3.08 nav patch...that didn't work either), that 3.10 update completely removed or turned off navigation...it is not there at all. The third button that used to appear in the middle bottom of the display is completely gone. There used to be 3, one for nav, home, and settings. Now, there is only two, settings and home.

So, is this going to require me to purchase a cable and run FORScan to turn navigation back on?

OK, I have tried the downgrade to 3.08...tried the Nav patch, just hooked Forscan up and checked and it shows a 4 already in the second digit of "7D0-01-02".

So, I assume the Lincoln Sync 3.10 update simply just removed Navigation altogether.
