2008 Expedition - Disable TPMS?

Post by V8expo »

I absolutely hate the TPMS system. I’m getting an error about every third time I drive the vehicle, goes away as soon as it’s shut off and restarted, but it’s annoying, and I do plan on getting some aftermarket wheels soon which will not have sensors.

I religiously check my tire pressure, so I’m not worried about the system. I’d rrally like to disable it. Does anyone know how? What would I even look for? Is there a specific module and code to change?

I have a WiFi elm327 knockoff right now, without the HS/MS switch, but have a USB version with the switch on its way.

This is for a 2008 Ford Expedition Limited (not EL)

I bought a tpms bypass off of ebay. Only one company in Europe makes them. I put it in my 2010 F150 since I got rid of the sensors. It works. No more annoying light on dash. It's the only thing I have found unless someone could explain in the lines of code which part would shut it off. Good luck.

I was looking at one of those. They're about $100 on ebay.
Seems expensive for what is probably $20 worth of electronics, but I might have to do this. I'm not having luck with module hacking.

Try this:

726-02-01 **0* xxXX **** 0' = Disable TPMS. '6' = 'Enable' **6* xxXX ****- xx = Front; XX = Rear 60psi=3C; 65psi=47; 70psi=46;75psi=4B; 80psi=50...Must have TPMS type valve stems before enabling...

This is from my 08 F250 spreadsheet, but from OP work...

Cheers,

Rick

This worked for my 2008 Ford Expedition! I had a 4 in the place of a 6. But if changed to 0 tpms will be disabled.

Rick/Roland ,
I'm reading your treads but I do not quite follow on how to get to those menus you are mentioning. I think i might be missing some steps. Are you able to please explain what tool/scanner do i need to buy to get to those codes and numbers you are referring to? Thank you very much,
Pablo

You need an obd connector like OBDLink EL (usb connection) or a bluetooth one. There are also wireless - not as popular. USB is most reliable, Be careful not to get a Chinese one as they are knockoffs and can be a hit and miss. There is a whole thread on this site about the various connectors and peoples experiences with them: viewforum.php?f=6

Forscan is the program to use with the OBD connector. Once set up programming is done by clicking on the computer chip logo on the left and you go to BCM Asbuilt to the following line to make those changes:
726-02-01 xx0x xxxx xxxx Enter 0' where shown to disable TPMS. Enter 6 to enable' xx6x xxxx xxxx.
Don't touch any of the other characters and hit write.

Don't worry about the PSI numbers shown the the posts above - that's confusing. You can add your own PSI settings later if you want after you get a feel for using Forscan.
