HP Windows 10 not letting Forscan app open

Post by wireguy07 » Fri Nov 17, 2017 2:20 am

So I have an HP Windows 10 wireless desktop. I've downloaded Forscan setup 2.3.12.beta.exe and came with a cool desktop icon. I click on the Forscan desktop icon and it spins for a second then nothing. I've right clicked it, then run as administrator and still nothing. Went as far as turning my windows firewall off and lowering the sensetivity on my Trend Micro to very low security. Restarted the pc after every action and still nothing. I'm stuck too early in it haha

Hi, wireguy07
I have not tested this on Windows 10, I know it works well on Windows XP which is no longer supported by Microsoft.

If you manage to find the solution to get it working on Windows 10, please share it as there may be others that might experience the same.

Thanks.

Hi wireguy. I’m running forscan on win10. Ive had few issues with it but worked them out. I would try completely uninstalling it, turning off all anti virus an firewall an reinstall it

FORScan is compatible with Windows 10. The only issue we know that may cause FORScan crash is conflict with Galetto FTDI driver, but it doesn't depend on OS version.

I'm running it without issues on Windows 10 using parallels on my macbook pro. I would try to uninstall and reinstall as suggested above.

I am running windows 10 and Trend Micro. I have to completely disable Trent Micro, start Forscan, then restart Trend Micro. Runs fine after that.
I can't find a fix to make it work another way.

I am ordering a ScanTool MX and looking into buying a tablet or laptop and just curious on peoples experience with FORScan with tablets compared to laptops (windows and/or android) using any usb/blue tooth scanners. Granted experience with the ScanTool scanners would be nice. :)

Granted I have yet to try FORScan software, I have some thoughts on previous posts.

1) Wireguy07 - If you have a windows program the won't open, I would first look at "eventvwr" and see if you can find any errors/warnings reported trying to start the application.
2) TheWizz - What operating system if your tablet running? If it's running windows there is no need to download the Android version. If it's running an Android operating system then yes you would need to download the Android version.
2.5) TheWizz - Without knowing the operating system and the type of file you are trying to open, it's hard to help here. For windows I usually install notepad++ and open unknown file types using the right click context menu, with notepad++. Android operating system I have very little experience with.

I have an HP laptop running Win 10 and just downloaded the FORScan software. It does the spinning circle and then nothing will not open. Everything is up to date
