Question about Main Dealer programming

Post by AndyL »

I'm about to take delivery of a 2021 Kuga ST-Line X PHEV and have asked the dealer to activate Auto Door Lock at speed - they say they can not do it. From the articles I've read here, viewtopic.php?p=62529, it can be done. Anyone know why a Ford dealer is saying it can't be done by them?

You should link the articles you read here in your next post so all the members know what you're referring to.
If you're about to take delivery of a new Ford, do you have FORScan operating and ready to connect?

I've updated my original post to include the post I read.

I've downloaded the latest FORScan but have been put off from implementing after I read here -> viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4563 that changes to the APIM modules are sent to Ford

If that topic is accurate and all changes are reversable, then apply those changes and test them.
Make sure you keep all original As-Built files in case one or more need to be reverted to the original format.
As for the dealer, there are two three types that you will encounter:
1) The ones that are up-to-date with new technology
2) The question you posed was far to confussing
3) They do not know their product line

The comment about "sending messages to Ford"
It is true, very much so. OTA (Over the Air) programming is here and now.
Tesla and BMW have been doing it for years.

There is a problem to this "in my humble opinion".
A) Every one is measured and tracked including the individual that is operating the vehicle.
B) Every button that is touched, manipulated and how long, is recorded and sent to ......... marketing development.
C) It's big data. You are targeted in your own (and future) vehicle when driving to remind you to "spend your money".
D) The addiction isn't the mobile phone or gaming any more, it will be personal transportation on 4-wheels with multiple screens.
