This was never brought up before. I don't think there are enough DIY Continental owners who want to change things in the cars. For the Lincoln MKS & Ford Taurus that also had a rear sunshade, the only way to disable the auto down in reverse was to disconnect/cut a wire that goes into the rear sunshade module. The module is connected to the sunshade itself. The Continental is a completely different vehicle, so it will probably be different than the MKS/Taurus.

Is there a special procedure or note in the operators manual?
There is something odd about dropping a sun shade in reverse.
Did you happen to ask the dealer if this is normal or an optional activation?
Do not ask for help in PM. Use the forum to ask and answer questions!

Actually it mentioned in user manual
( A control is on the overhead console and on the rear seat armrest bezel. Press and release the control to open or close the sun shade. To stop motion and return the sun shade to its previous position, press the control a second time. The sun shade automatically retracts when you shift the transmission into reverse (R) )
