2012 Smax tow bar module programming

Post by Phillh3889 » Sun Sep 29, 2019 9:15 pm

Hi All,

Please forgive me if this has been covered before and if it has can someone point me in the right direction.

So I have a 2012 SMax with a genuine Ford trailer module fitted, how do I activate it?

I have done plenty of research but can not find clear instructions.

Thank you in advance.

Try this:

Activation tow bar: BdyCM 726-49-01 xxxx xxxX xxxx, change X to 1 (default: 0)
Trailer tow lighting: IPC 720-02-03 xxxx xXxx, change X to 1 (default: 0)
Park Assistant: PAM 736-01-01 xxxX xxxx xxxx, change X to 5 (default: 0)

These are all the settings needed for the tow bar in a 2019 Edge.

I have the same problem. I fitted a Westfalia tow bar kit including the CANbus wiring that plugs into the car's harness. Indicators and brake lights are ok but the side lamps won't turn on with the light switch, though they do work when I use the remote to unlock the car. I contacted the supplier and they confirmed this is how the car will behave "until I have it re-coded at a dealer"
I didn't buy a kit and fit it myself only to waste money on a dealer re-code! I sourced the ELM327 cable and installed Forscan, and I can connect and download two lists of data, one HS and one MS, but that is as far as I got. I need a "spreadsheet", or at least the numbers required to activate the towbar.
How far did you get?
